HEAR Journaling 2 Kings Chapter 6
Highlight 2 Kings 6:30-31 New Living Translation
30 When the king heard this, he tore his clothes in despair. And as the king walked along the wall, the people could see that he was wearing burlap under his robe next to his skin.31 “May God strike me and even kill me if I don’t separate Elisha’s head from his shoulders this very day,” the king vowed.
Explain – The King of Israel blamed God and His prophet Elisha for the famine from the war with King Ben-hadad of Aram. He threatened to kill Elisha forgetting all the wonders and victories that he had received by listening to Elisha before.
Apply – We too can lose our reasoning when we take our attention from the Lord God and focus on problems and fears. We must maintain our relationship with the Holy Spirit and take our every thought captive lest we too be deceived.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ESV For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
Philippians 4:8 ESV Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
John 3:36 ESV Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
1 John 2:16 ESV For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.
Respond – Thank You Lord for this amazing relationship I have with You. Help me Lord to remain faithful, not to fall to temptations that would lead me away from life in You. I seek to abide in You as You abide in me, following You faithfully and obediently forever. I pray for those that do not yet know You as Savior and Lord, may they find You. Amen.
