I might be cheap for saying this but a track saw is a luxury
I’ve been buying makita and festool for years, have a tsc55. I think it’s good to have less expensive brands and models out there mainly to encourage more people to do cleaner work. I’m more on the finish trim side but you can get this thing up on a roof and cut sheathing have it roll off and not break a 700$ saw.
Does it work on other brand tracks?
Ryobi is on sale right now for the same price, which is a better choice?
I just want to say that I am learning wood work and I love your work but more importantly how you represent Jesus!! I would like to say hi to you one day! Thank you brother! Love you man
where to put the marks…check the directions LOL couldn't resist
I could see this being really handy on a job site where you don't need dust collection, and you're breaking down a lot of sheet goods. Maybe a framer would find this useful.
I wouldn’t call that a track saw, as it doesn’t pivot on one point, thus the shitty track with two different width sides. And that knob is not for anti-tip function, it’s for a rip guide like most circular saws have. Every YouTube tool reviewer thinks he’s an expert… 🤦♂️
I love skil tbh. I use most of there stuff. Electric screw driver, drill, normal circle saw. I like the fact that it feels "real" if that makes sense. Also a lot cheaper then most other stuff… Or at least the ones I bought anyway.
I want a track for my Milwaukee 6.5”
This saw is not meant for the heavier tasks. I love the rear handle from Skil though
Could you test the metabo hpt tracksaw please?
Cheers for the video
Definitely not the first brand to have a track compatible circular saw, and not the first affordable brand either. Many brands have done this, and done it better too. The track compatibility was definitely an after thought, and not a very good one at that. No virtual pivot to allow 90/45 on the same side of the track, one slot track is terrible, no anti slip strips, no compatability with other brands.
Evolution have had a corded one with Festool/makita pattern track for years. There's a new gen track and a cordless version of the saw coming this year from them.
God I hate circular saws… A really small battery one can be handy sometimes.. but for everything else I use an actual track saw. Completely superior. With a good vacuum connected there is virtually no dust.
The circular saws I've tried also feels flimsy… like you can bend things.. the angle adjustment is often just secured in one end.. on thin metal that feels like it can be bent.. It also feels dangerous when the blade wont retract by itself if you lose grip..
I f-ing hate them.
Products like this kill me, but I'm happy it's available. I have the Makita corded(and I'm super happy about that cord) with the long and short track(build a box for those~!~)and love it. I bought it from Tool Nut as well, it's slightly underpowered, but, that's the only complaint, it also cost a whole lot more. Dust collection is superb if you tape over the little window. This would be great for someone starting out, or for breaking down plywood outside. Great review…..
Love your channel with I could have one of those saws. I dont do wood work for work just a hobby. I really appreciate you talking like a normal person.
Is there a third-party Track saw you can recommend for a Milwaukee M18 Circular Saw?
Dang! Makita gets no love on this channel.😔
Helpful tip. Get some grip tape and put it on the bottom of the track on both sides. Makita has a 36 volt. DeWalt has a but it is only sold in Europe. Hikoki is coming out with one also only available in Europe
When will you be reviewing the tools in the Craftsman V20 line?
Can the ridgid be used a standard circ
Have you considered testing the grizzly tracksaw? $229, corded, but nine feet of track and clamps included. Is it any good?
I'm thinking that knob on the side is for an edge guide when not used with the track. Is the edge guide included? Most are cheap, stamped and bent steel. It may have fallen and disappeared under your toolbox…….. get a magnetic retrieval device….
What happened to skil? they where industry standard in professional circular saws and the reason world over we call that type of tool a ‘skill saw’…now they make hobbyist grade tools. How come? ..such a shame.
I've had the skil brushless pwrcore 20 drill and impact. The batteries are great. They charge up pretty quick and stay charged for a long time. I don't have the hammer drill. I would get the hammer drill if you are a heavy user.
Good video. You really should have mentioned cutting on a sacrificial/backer plywood. This makes bottom-side tear outs a thing of the past. You can combine a review and track saw education into 1 video that way.
Are we going to see makita 40v on this channel. Great video 👍
This is great for guys who build outdoor decks. Specifically, when they run composite decking long then cut it with a track saw. Why you ask well because with the enclosed track saw (festool type) the plastic from the composite gets caught in the enclosure and stops the blade. Most guys run them with the enclosure open, that's why I feel that the skill track saw will work great as the plastic will not blind on the blade.
ive seen this before
Most tracksaws are plunge saws, they are spring loaded so you push down & make the cut, then when you lift it off the blade retracts… this saw does not do that…
As for the track not having a grippy surface, when I made a DIY track years ago, I used a finely Vee-notched spreader to apply silicone to the bottom… it worked great !!
Thanks for the vid and Happy New Year !
😎👍☘️🍺
Dude are you from Arkansas?! I just now noticed the plate hanging in your tool box background
Someone just tried to send me a free saw through the comment section. If it wasn't you, watch out folks. . .
Be careful. I just got an email to contact you that you wanted to talk. I thought you wanted to talk about track ready saws but you said I just won a Makita track saw. I was happy but then you asked for address and shipping would be on me choose a shiper. All shippers listed was over $200 so obviously a scam and not you. Be careful out there people.
Bosch has a circ saw in their Profactor line that is billed as "track compatible," but it's much more expensive and doesn't come with the tracks.
I bought saw (tool only, no track) a few months ago. I shortly after got the rip fence. I was wondering if they planned to make some kind of track when I bought it, but did not see it anywhere at the time. This video pretty much stated all the reasons I purchased the saw and would buy the track. I have a few Skil 20volt. Like them and good price. Pretty much starting to replace my aging Craftsman 19.2 volt with these.
Thanks for the review and all you're other reviews. Your spot on with everything… don't care too much for the advertisement on your tee shirts, but who cares about that, the content is what I'm checking in for!! THX AGAIN
It seems ok but track saw rail that slips, no dust collection, no fine tooth blade, clamps
that aren’t universal with other brands like it.
Do you have a video for the Mikita track saw
In the netherlands dewalt makes a circular saw that fits on a track to
At first I dismissed this due to dust collection but then it dawned on me I would use this outside the shop anyway due to such a small shop so dust collection for this particular tool wouldn't matter. For as often as I'd need it this might be a good option, even when at my real job I don't rip sheet goods often so it would serve me well for occasional use.
