This week, Abhinandan Sekhri, Manisha Pande and Raman Kirpal are joined by Indian journalist, activist and author Aakar Patel.

The conversation starts with the ban on the #BBCDocumentary critical of Prime Minister #Modi. On talking about the effect of the ban on the 2024 elections, Aakar Patel says, “Tyrants should be effective in what they do, if they want a ban no one should be able to see it. But if you ban something and the opposition is tweeting its links, that is a sign of weakness.” They also discuss the way, through the years, Modi has been able to control the narrative around him in the national media.

The conversation moves to Mike Pompeo’s book ‘Never give an Inch’, his remarks on India’s former External Affairs minister late Sushma Swaraj, Pompeo compare’s Sushma to Jaishankar in the book, and Jaishankar’s reply to Pompeo. Abhinandan has a very important question, “Will this book be banned?”.

The panel also discusses the #Hindenburg Research report, which claims that #AdaniGroup had “engaged in a brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme over the course of decades”, and how it has led to a fall in Adani’s share price.

  1. It’s an English news channel, why introduce HINDI-URDU in the middle?

HINDI-URDU is worse than cancer and coronavirus in India, most people who speak them are eating hard working, tax payers money of other languages

  3. Months before Gujarat polls, entire Godi+Paapi media projected AAP as opposition to FINISH Cong. Gain was BJP sweep.
Paapi Liar Manisha..Like Rotdeep Sardesai & NDTV keep promoting sanghi opportunist kejri.
Why did Modi ensure Roys got Rs 800 crore while Raghav Behl jail & penury?
    PAAPIS are Sanghi empire enablers.
Because PAAPI liars enabled Modi get absolute majority by fooling pitential Cong voters that Cong is BAD

  5. i absolutely agree with it. talks of 2002 brings about success to him for sure. ALL (literally all) of my conversations about the topic with the right supporting people have been about how they agree with everything that happened; that it was really 'justice' that happened back then in gujarat. this is the very reason the mention of 2002 brings about more power to him.
i used to think that people think he wasn't involved at all. but no, its the opposing. the know he was involved and they support it.

  7. I would like to understand why NL continues to refer to the Gujarat Massacre of 2002 or the Gujarat Pogrom of 2002 as the Gujarat “riots.” In 2002, the violent riots incited by the RSS were with the aim of massacring or expelling the Muslim minority community. That falls directly into the definition of a pogrom. For three days, the police stood by as Hindutva mobs slaughtered almost 2000 people, most of them Muslims, not sparing women, children, the elderly or even unborn babies. To refer to the violence as riots indicates that the Muslims were also involved in active violence. What would you do if you were being attacked by angry mobs? You would either run or fight back. Those who fought back were in the minority because the police were assisting the Hindutva mobs. I find it rather appalling that you continue to refer the event as a riot and should be called what it was, a massacre or a pogrom.
