I am always amazed at the shear depth and complexity of the BT universe, considering its origin as a game about stompy robots.
Imagine, if you will that they had a fully functional Thunderbolt factory for the better part of 200 years and their army was still small and pathetic. They barely even fought anyone in the Succession wars compared to the great houses too.

Love the TC, my main force is TDF militia based on the planet of Cyrton. Combined arms force with few if any mechs.
They're not perfect, and there are a lot of problems but they're better than a lot of other states.
Sadly the way the TC has been written has always made me angry. From Introtech forward they get shafted with the most insane and incompetent heads of state, broken up by the occasional sane ruler who usually quickly offed. And from Shraplan onward the rulers just get more and more idiotic to where with Urratia I'm surprised the concordat itself didn't get swallowed up completly. I just hope that the reunification with the calderon protectorate helps to revive the competent leadership and direction that the concordat enjoyed before the dawn of the 31st century. But then again. there are times when you can feel the thumb of the authors tipping the scales during certain events. Usually when it involves davion or the wolves. So who knows.
Can you imagine how long some of these videos will be once BT is an other 40 years older?
Taurians are nothing like Texas. If anything, they are like a if Switzerland and Vietnam were combined with a Jeffersonian Republican ideology

Now that, was a proper video essay!
Being an ex conscript on reserves, I can both understand why Taurians have been forced to embrace national service – but horrified at the same time. At least my national service can be stated to be purely defensive in nature (i.e, if my country was invaded… I would volunteer regardless. So it makes no difference), so can imagine the despair of the average Taurian would have felt when being deployed to the Pleides Cluster during the Blakist era.
Beyond personal emotions though, I think you have genuinely convinced me to love the Taurian Concordat as my favourite faction. Not because it is Space Texas – but because it genuinely reads like a real life state. The Concordat is built on beautiful ideals, on a willingness to explore, to embrace refugees, and attempt to serve its citizenry. These are ideals which each successive generations live up to, fight for, and very often fail to meet. Many of these failures exist because the political system is flawed, and because protectors are authoritarian leaders, in the same way the lords of the Inner Sphere are.
Yet as long as these ideals are harkened back to, the Taurian state can recover and rebuild. And who knows, if the circumstances are right, and if the Taurians stay their course… perhaps they will see a golden age, making themselves a legitimate counter thesis to the Inner Sphere and the clans.
Until then, my Mercenary Company Seonbi's Skirmishers (ex-capellans, changing allegiance during the Triple Alliance) remains the Taurian Concordat's most loyal janissaries.

The actions of the SLDF led Terran Hegemony in the periphery show that while Ameris did MANY things wrong during his coup and overtaking of the TH, his initial actions were the correct ones (aka eliminating House Cameron).

So at first I was intimated by the length of this video and it took me 4 days to watch it but I am so happy I did. I was only partially aware of the history of the Concordat with most of my knowledge coming from novels. This was eye opening and gave me a greater view of the region.
Videos like this are the main reason I can not and WILL NOT pick one specific faction as my fave. Each has its ups and downs. Characters that are heroic, evil and just plain stupid that bring life to the Battletech universe.
