Why use what looks like a modern nuclear submarine in a WW 2 video? Shalom
So I didn't know that the Germans had nuclear U-Boots in the second world war?. Just looking at the click bait!.
King taking command of Atlantic ops & delegating command of Pacific ops could have been Kingβs biggest error. It should have been the opposite.Surely,King did know he was anglophobic. How is that for a what if scenario?
It's amazing that they spoke about "War crimes" in NΓΌrnberg when DΓΆnitz ordered to not rescue survivors, but never mentioned that it was the Allies themselves that forced that behaviour onto the Germans, by, as said in the Documentary – attacking Submarines with Airplanes while they try to rescue survivors. These double standards are just disgusting.
Actually the death-toll on the Lucitania was 1,201 out of a total compliment of 1,999.
did u know theres some cruise ships now over 200,000 tons the titanic was about 50,000…we have air craft carriers over 100,000 tons
There is some weird post production where at a regular cadence they are speeding up the narration. Once you hear it then it is all you can hear. Cut that and the music out. Do history, not drama.
Give me a ping vascilli. One ping only, please.
Another DREADFUL thumbnail which makes a COMPLETLE mockery of the content creator. Luckily the video itself was produced by people who had more idea of what they were talking about.
Good show, too bad the click bait start takes away from the history in the show.
I used to watch Battlefield with my grandpa back in the mid 90's. PBS played them all the time.
Bizarrely, the thumbnail for this video shows a nuclear-powered era submarine.
I have to admit tghat that's Truth in Advertising of a sort. The videos on this channel are routinely illustrated with videos of time-inappropriate vehicles.
The Lusitania was carring muntions. Therefore a legitimate target. Why do so few acknowledge this? It was a legitimate target. So why do so many talk about German aggression. And, in my experience. Zero blame the British for exposing passangers to death? Hello!! The British are totally at fault here. They broke rhe rules. And anyone dumb enough to be a passanger. Sealed their own fate. Intercourse the "historical record". It is all propaganda written by the winners. Not that I endorse it. But seriously? The British government is the evil nasty of this sinking, and lives lost. Why is this seldom exposed?
Tosspot
I wonder how Britain was there today with these tactics
You should probably not use "AI" generated images for your thumbnails. That's how you get a Catalina over some sort of strange caricature of a nuclear submarine.
The Uboats had the worst death rates of any service in the German army
enjoyed watching this thanks
USA πΊπΈ, Japan π―π΅,and Britain π¬π§ upgraded sea warfares to aircraft carriers ultittude before WW2 .submarines and battleships remained behind.. Germany didn't understand that
When talking about King, you showed a portrait of Halsey!
4:30 Lusitanias grim fate
Background noise: people continue cheering.
Keeps showing portrait of William "Bull" Halsey?
ππππππ
Why the totally fake image of a nuclear submarine being chased by a Catalina…..didnt happen in the battle of atlantic….such laziness and ignorance….no excuse….and stupid
Very poor keeps using the WRONG pictures of people and other and NO mention of Captain Walker.
You show a photo of Wm Bul Halsey while speaking of Adm King , doesnt speak to accuracy
It was due to the WREN War Gamers of WATO of the RN. An incredible outfit.
You know you are in for a "treat" when they put a Soviet nuclear submarine in the thumbnail.
True dedication to historical accuracy aka complete BS.
WW2 nerd with 30 years into the topic speaking here.
03:30 No the submarines of WW1 weren't "small, fragile and unreliable". The WW1 UF (1917) and UG (1918) types of submarines were the technical backbone of the WW2 Type VII boats (which were the main type for the Germans) with just minor changes. Technically they were the same. Quality documentary…
With regard to the Battle of the Atlantic the Portuguese leased the
airfield at Lajes (on the island of Terceira, part of the Azores) in 1943 to the Americans and the British.
Lusitania was carrying arms
The wolf-packs were the only real weapon that had a chance to bring the British to the peace table. Even Churchill admitted the U-boats were the only thing that really worried him during the whole war. If Admiral Doenitz had his 300 U-boats in 1940, the course of world history might now be very different.
Have the author ever know that an old country called Portugal exists? Cristiano Ronaldo, Vasco da Gama, Fernao de Magalhaes, … ?
A good voice is not enough to guarantee a good comunication.
I find it disturbing that war criminals are presented as honorable and admirable persons.
Captain Johnny Walker RN played a big part in the Uboat War. and their eventual defeat.
On your statement about only a few type XXI being built and none entering service; 267 were built between 1943-1945 with 118 being completed. Two of them, U2511 and U3008 were actually commissioned and even sent on war patrols. The biggest reasons more weren't sent out was because of a lack of experienced crews due to the allied efforts and advancements in anti submarine warfare and Hitler's lack of faith in the kriegsmarine in the latter stages of the war.
Messicans got on boots
How did we defeat the U-Boats. We broke the Kriegsmarine Enigma as used by the Uboats.
