Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on Modern Warfare continues with the aftermath of the first phase of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine in 2022 (https://youtu.be/yBZPE9o2gHU). Previously we talked about the build-up to the new stage of the Russo-Ukrainian War, how Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine continued, and covered events between February 24th and April 7th, as we saw how Ukraine managed to win the first phase of the war. This set up the second phase of the war – battle of Donbas. In the previous video we covered the events of April of 2022 (https://youtu.be/K2N_fHKrWIg) including the sinking of the rocket cruiser Moskva – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvB2CPpdTMY, and how the conflict turned into the war of attrition in May (https://youtu.be/D-93q4GMFT0) and continued with Russia’s best month in June (https://youtu.be/SIm4mQihHdA). In the video dedicated to July – the 5th month of the war, we talked about the arrival of the HIMARS systems which strengthened Ukrainian positions and changed the war (https://youtu.be/WS0D0X8V6rg), while this video will focus on the events of August, as we will see how Russian logistics and manpower problems were worsened by the HIMARS strikes, the risk and intrigue around the Zaporizhia (Enerhodar) Nuclear Powerplant and the long expected beginning of the Ukrainian counter-offensive in Kherson (https://youtu.be/2hZoQ4xebGw). Previously we discussed the Kherson counteroffensive in the first 2 weeks of September and showed how the Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kharkiv Oblast – Balakliya-Izium counter-offensive succeeded, pushing the Russians across Oskil and Lyman (https://youtu.be/gJRjKuss_Co) In the second half of September, Ukraine liberated even more territory in Kherson (https://youtu.be/S7usqwT-ty4), while this video will talk about the events of the beginning of October, including the attack on the Crimean – Kerch bridge (https://youtu.be/i4gebic_Wnc). In the second half of October, positional and attritional warfare continued to dominate, still Ukraine managed to attack the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol and the Grain Deal was almost cancelled (https://youtu.be/wUAzOsvaX7k), while in the beginning of November, Ukraine finally liberated Kherson (https://youtu.be/sYr5mTNljN8). In the second half of November, winter took over, making the military operation more difficult (https://youtu.be/8r0JfS6WTWs), while in the first half of December, the stalemate continued (https://youtu.be/OOpew0MbJtg). This will deal with the Battle of Kyiv which was largely decisive and crucial for the first phase of the war.

  1. the shooting down of the Il-76 is pure Ukrainian propaganda. 10 months later there is not a single image of a single remains of two planes of more than 100 tons presumably loaded with troops and equipment. specialists say they were E95M drone decoys sent to lure and lure Ukrainian air defenses.

On the other hand it is a good video, despite the fact that some things (such as the case of the Il-76) are pure repetition of Ukrainian propaganda

  2. Fought with the Georgian Foreign Legion. I was there for only 4 months before coming back to the states. Our unit fought in severodonetsk before it fell in June, 2022. We retreated back and linked up with elements of UAF. From my experience, I can say that Ukraine dont have ill trained troop problem. Manpower isnt the biggest issue, its the fact that Russian artillery outnumbers Ukrainian artillery 10-1.Glad the HIMARS are playing crucial parts but can't wait to see how the Bradleys plays out. Slava Ukraine

  5. I remember for the first week or so of the invasion, some ppl on discord and i would group together in voice chat. Listening to radio chatter and any piece of news on the battle for Kyiv. Some of us just joining late in voice chat would always ask, "does Cadia still stand?!". Me or someone in chat would yell "CADIA STANDS!!!". And so Cadia(Kyiv) stood and did not fall.

(Note: Cadia is a planet in the Warhammer 40k universe that literally sat next to an entrance of a galactic scale dimensional tear to a dimension of demons and gods, and Cadia always beat back the demon crusades each time. Until one of the crusades' leader got really salty about almost losing again and crashed a moon sized spaceship into the planet destroying it just to finally win against Cadia.)

  6. If you had no knowledge of this war and just watched the 1st 15 minutes of this video, nobody could imagine that Ukraine could successfully repel the invaders from taking Kiev, that battle will go down in history for many reason's.

  7. To have fought in Moschun and Irpin is some of the proudest fighting that any of us have taken part in.

At the beginning of the war, no one knew what was going to happen. Will Kyiv be like Stalingrad? Will we be fighting street to street there? On the bus to Kyiv, I had a dream of us taking up a defense in a concrete building there, fighting to the last man.

But when we arrived, we met our Ukrainian commander and some Georgians who arrived before us. They took us into our first battle. Moschun.

The closest thing to what the fight in Moschun was like. Band of Brothers, when Easy company was fighting near Foy. The artillery, the trenches behind the village where Ukrainians held the line, and the house that roughly 12 of us volunteers and our commander held. We were a thorn in the line, and every time the VDV made a push, we shattered their assaults. Everyone who fought their still reminisces about it. Because we proved ourselves there. We forged a bond there.

    Freedom is worth fighting for.
    Slava Ukrayini.

  8. It still amazes me how this battle unfolded. Russia should have won this battle and they had all they needed to take Kyiv. They out gunned Ukraine massively, but their sheer incompetence, stupidity and complete lack of basic strategic understanding gave Ukraine the victory. I don't want to take away from the courage and fierce determination of the Ukrainian armed forces, but they were simply out gunned but they held the line. This will have to go down as one of the biggest blunders in Military history, as Russia should have won, and in a very short time, the myth about the Russian army being a serious threat, evaporated.

  9. This is a good illustration of what many people seem to not realize – the first weeks of the war it was really, REALLY close to defeat. If not for the fortitude of Ukrainians combined with overcomfidence of Russians, the war could've ended right there.

  10. I can only hope that Putin succeeds and Russia claims the land which is rightfully theres, pushing NATO and new world order scum back away from their borders, so that Russia can live without fear of being surrounded by new world order military sites. <3
