The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance agrees that this is one of the hardest-working bands in the world with almost 40 official releases since 2010. I haven’t jumped head first into the King Gizzard “universe” yet, but that’s certainly on my agenda this week with their VAST array of work. In this video, I jump in blind to analyze “Mars For The Rich” from the band’s sessions at Seattle’s KEXP 90.3 FM. Bassist Lucas Harwood’s traditional stoner-rock tone and vintage gear fit perfectly within the band’s fuzzy psychadelic sounds and riffage – even boasting a tasty bass solo as he drives the beat alongside TWO drummers (which took me minutes to even realize).
