Welcome to the Fraser (K’Gari) Island Clean Up 2023! We bring you the extraordinary story of collaboration and community-driven action. Where 700 dedicated adults and 132 enthusiastic children who are part of 22 clubs and 13 corporate sponsors clean up the largest sand Island in the world. They all join forces to help restore the pristine beauty of Fraser Island. Adding to the event are members of the Tangaroa Blue Foundation who drove the data capture.
The event is held annually over a weekend by Four Wheel Drive Queensland affiliated club members.
The collection of rubbish is mainly Marine debris which is human-created waste, that has deliberately or accidentally been released in a lake, sea, ocean, or waterway. But it is not exclusively marine rubbish the humans who visit this beautiful island can and do leave their rubbish behind.
As the saying goes ‘If you can bring it in with you, you can take it home with you as well.
