BigT, loving the series so far.
Some tips: always have 2 full water bottles (minimum) when exploring main POI"s, and some filling food. There are other POI's that will be even bigger than this island that you will be on for a long time. Also you can take those dead animal heads and wear them on your head like a helmet (this is in no way useful but its fun).
Def make a shovel, and Im pretty sure the Machete is stronger than the spear. Would also suggest making a bow and arrow, bee net and net launcher.
Also if you expand your raft and build larger crop plots, you can plant coconut trees which will give you your own wood supply
