  1. Chris Eccleston will forever hold a special place in my heart as the Doctor and I was crushed when he left. Just a heads up- if you end up wanting more of Eccleston as the Doctor later on, Eccleston has recorded multiple "seasons" worth of audio dramas as the Doctor for Big Finish and there are some really "fantastic" moments in them! They basically feel just like episodes of the show just without the visuals.

Personally I highly recommend the "Respond to all Calls" boxset if you want to try them out at some point – it was the second set of his first "season" of stuff on Big Finish and all 3 stories hold up really well with the last one being an absolute favorite Eccleston episode including the TV series!

Enjoy the rest of the show either way though- I have been loving the reactions and am glad to see you enjoying the show despite your initial thoughts on how you'd feel!

  2. Glad you didn’t know about regeneration. Always more fun that way! I’m showing Doctor Who to my boyfriend right now and we’re about to hit episode 8… and pretty sure he doesn’t really know how Doctors change and I’m really excited to get to the second half of this season with him.

  3. I'm so glad you've got to this point, and glad you've enjoyed the journey so far.
On the soundtrack album, the tune is called 'Rose Defeats the Daleks' – in my personal head-canon, it's Rose and the TARDIS. When the Bad Wolf says, "I want you safe…my Doctor…" in my head, that's always been the TARDIS talking through Rose… But enough of my rambling.
Again, so glad you've enjoyed this. I've loved revisiting older stories, and seeing them through fresh eyes; I could be a little jealous, but prefer that vicarious 'first time viewing' thrill from a quality reactor. Looking forward to sharing the adventures ahead.

  4. The Doctor is still the same person and has the same memories he just looks different and has a change of personality, traits and tastes and different view points its like different molecules in your body but underneath all that still fights for what he stands for. It's been an ongoing thing since 1966 when William Hartnell the original Doctor left the role because he was too ill to continue and the producers wanted to continue with the show so the idea of "regeneration" happened so its been the ongoing thing when ever an actor decides to move on or if their contracts has expired.

But you see you say Doctor Who associates with David Tennant thats only from the younger generations perspective i don't agree in my opinion it associates with Tom Baker because he was the longest serving and the most iconic Doctors of them all.

  5. Time lords can regenerate 12 times… its the same person afterwards but usually takes on one facet of his personality and that becomes his main characteristic…. so the 1st dr was crotchety and tetchy, the 2nd was a clown, the third was a james bond character and did karate and gadgets… etc etc

  6. We all loved eccleston and when he changed, thought we would hate tennant…. but no, tennant is absolutely amazing, in terms of viewership, awards both national and international, and coverage (4 spin off shows were commissioned during his run).. tennant is the peak (also my personal favorite…)

  7. In regards to if the change is purely physical… Yes and No? Each doctor has their own traits, their own catchphrases and idiosynchraties, at times they can even feel like different characters.. But deep down they are all the Doctor, that core essence of who they are; the wandering traveller doing their best to put things right when the go wrong; that is there with every one of them.
