It’s a foggy night of August 6th, 1915 and in the trenches near Osowiec fortress the Imperial Russians are facing the Germans in what is now modern day Poland. The Germans are using a terrible weapon. Gas. A huge cloud drifts across the battlefield. The resulting effects on the soldiers gives them an unearthly appearance. Even though they have fallen, they seem to come back to life. The Germans are naturally fearful of these undead soldiers that become vicious, fast combatants full of hatred and revenge. An incredible counter attack where the fallen through sheer will went back into the fight to take their vengeance.

A few numbers to help show how incredible this was – The German army brought 7,000 men to bear, whereas Osowiec Fortress was defended by only 900. The barrage and the gas combined killed about 800. So this means that the countercharge comprised only 100 heavily wounded men, who were outnumbered a staggering 70 to 1, and yet they won the battle.
When the Germans fled, they were far too disorgsnised to file back through the paths in the wire traps they had cut, so a lot of the died from running into their own barbed wire and being shot by the five remaining Russian big guns that hadn't been knocked out by the German artillery barrage.
It's still a bit surprising that this happened. A ww1 battle turns into a zombie attack, when the Germans tried using poisonous gas to kill all the Russians
