Brigadier (Retired) David Innes discusses Operation Market Garden, the Battle of Arnhem, and the men of the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry that went ‘A Bridge Too Far’.
The 2nd Battalion of the Oxf & Bucks LI, trained as airborne troops and famed for the D-Day capture of Pegasus Bridge, didn’t take part in Operation Market Garden – but yet, officers and men from the regiment were there. Watch and find out how they came to be there, and their stories from the front.
The recorded Q&A also features Steve Berridge, creator of www.lightbobs.com, as well as Ingram Murray, father of comedian Al Murray. Both are veterans and regular volunteers at the museum – not to mention absolute fonts of knowledge!
This talk was originally livestreamed (with audience Q&A) at www.sofo.org.uk on 19 January 2023.
