The 3DS remake of Dragon Quest Monsters Terry's Wonderland is way better thsn Pokemon RBY or the other Kanto remakes.
This is hilarious considering dragon quest was the main videogame inspiration for Pokemon
I would say that there are plenty of differences between Pokemon and Dragon Quest Monster due to how they play. DQM plays like the main-line Dragon Quest titles but with more variety in the party with how many monsters can be tamed. Also, Dragon Quest V wasn't released in NA until 2009 and they used Dragon Warrior since VII and changed when VIII came out.
Dragon Quest 3 was officially the first Dragon Quest game with Monster Taming in it. Also, yeah it use to be named "Dragon Warrior" back in the day… I can't remember why, but it probably was legal stuff.
Dragon Quest literally did the monster taming thing before Pokémon even existed. If these people took two seconds to do any researxh before making these shitty articles, they'd have seen that. Its like calling SMT a "Pokémon clone." It's just dishonest.
I absolutely endorse the idea of a play through of DWM2. It’s a fantastic game, and very refreshing.
I’ll also say, as a member of the gaming press, that corporate poke-comparisons are too rampant. I for one never liked to compare things to Pokémon but I’m sure even I’m guilty of doing it myself from time to time, mostly for relatability for the audience reading articles. However, I know that the monster-taming genre wouldn’t be what it is without Pokémon. Still, all of these games for the most part are very distinct and deserve their own attention.

Honestly comparing dq to Pokémon is a insult to dq. I used to love Pokémon but let's face it there are better games in the genre, unless we get a gale of darkness remake.
Seriously? If I recall both the first SMT and Dragon Quest Monsters were the first Monster Taming video games in history and are the grandfather of the genre.
They walked for Pokémon to run soon after and other games too. Pokémon probably wouldn’t exist with those games.

I just really hate that the literal lowest tier series in the genre is the posterboy for it. There hasn't been a single good Pokémon game in like a decade yet game "journalists" just cant stop themselves. (and this is coming from an idiot who still buys and plays every Pokémon game for like a hundred hours at least.)

Its my favourite dragon quest game and played in ps2, ds and the original release.
The ds remake is superior compared to the ps2 remake.
Going back to topic I really dont think its monster taming game cause if you really played it the monsters just join your party once you defeat them in random and my god it doesnt even happen until mid part in the game not counting saber cause his part of the story and encountered early in the game as the 3rd party member along with Bianca (the 1st wife option). 🤦♂️
Dragon quest monsters 2 is a huge improvement on the first. But I love the first absolutely as well. Aye I'm adding to the voices
