  1. I'm not going to get a chance to watch this for a few hours but I just audibly gasped with excitement when seeing your video pop up in my subscriptions feed. Loving the content as always and know that you've inspired someone to make their own YouTube channel with the growth you've shown in your own content. Bless up ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Oh hey, I wrote the Blueshield Company intro! The only guideline I was given was "Hobbit Reference" which hopefully explains that heh.

That aside, I always love your videos, so I'm going to save this for lunch and a hot cup of tea tomorrow. I hope you did better in the eastern campaigns of the mission tree than I did, that was a bit of a pain what with the Centaurs doing Centaur things.

  3. I'm the one who made this MT (though I got a lot of help with coding the observation/astral terror system), and also wrote around half of all the flavor text (which took multiple months all on its own even with multiple other writers helping out). I haven't had time to watch the video yet, but thank you for playing this tag!

  4. …Huh. I finished my run of this just a few days ago. I did my start the hard way – keeping the Shattered Crown lands for myself, then expanding west, and taking over the Mithril hold. Using expedition money, repair that hold, then make it my capital, and dev renaissance there, using the obscene amounts of money that got to repair the shattered crown holds afterwards. I colonised to and conquered the slaver hold and the railway hold, vassalised the ruby dwarves, and colonised the cavalry hold all before I even got to Dur Vazhatun, and I still was there in time to be able to block the quartz dwarfs inside their mountain. Needless to say, after that I had a very easy time of it, even when I needed to conquer land from the #1 GP Gawed to my west or the GP unified LakeFed to my east.
Still, had a bit of a damp squib ending, as the final event chain spawned rebels partly beyond my borders (I only conquered Gawedi lands as far as the mission tree demanded, as fighting massive countries just takes sooooo long), and I defeated my rebels before Gawed did, so I presume Gawed got my final event when they killed the final 'rebels', as I got nothing. Ended up having to dig through the mission tree to trigger the event manually.
Plus, the 'rebels' were rather underwhelming. I'd had to face down the literal million-man army of the Lakefed just a few years prior, those rebels were a joke.
Still, the theme of it was very strong, even if the mechanics tripped over themselves a bit at the end.
Personally – and I can understand why they didn't, but it would have been novel – the end of the mission tree would have been one of the few times I feel an 'unwinnable' disaster (like the centaurs get if they don't expand fast enough) would have been appropriate. Like, the meteor at the end, rather than one set of rebels, instead, you get an expanding condition from the impact point which burns down the dev of your provinces and turns them into rebels until the province is entirely decolonised as the people all go mad. There's no way to stop it as it slowly spreads throughout all your lands, and there's just a series of events as it gets closer and closer to your hold as you realise just how utterly screwed you are, and that there is no hope, no way out. You can fight the rebels, but you can't fight the cause, you don't even understand it, beyond finally accepting, as you hear the sounds of madness begin to echo through your hold, that there are some places we shouldn't look, that there are some warnings that should be heeded, and there are some prices for hubris even dwarves cannot afford to pay.
