An Amiga sampler…for your DAW

PotenzaDSP’s new VST, Amigo, is a sampler that emulates the OG 8-bit Amiga sound heard in many drum & bass, jungle, & house tracks during the 90s. This thing RULES. #musicproduction #amiga

  1. Found out about this last night and just knew Thought-Forms would deliver a video about it in 24 hours or less 👍🏿. I was messing with ProTracker 2 clone a few years ago, and while I've dabbled with trackers here and there, I could never really get into them so I'm glad someone finally made something I can use inside of a DAW.

  2. This looks super cool and came out just in time for me to make my Autechre-inspired techno and ambient album…I even got a Realistic Concertmate-500 (the Radioshack reskin of the Casio Sk-1) to do it!

  3. You need multiple Amigos when you want to use different effects in a sample? For example if I want to program normal slices and at the end of bar want to use rev or timestrech, can I record it somehow with the same vst or do I need to open multiple instances, each for certain trick?

  5. Oh thanks for this tip!
I’ve thought about bringing my A1000 and A1200 into the studio, so I just must try this!
(Too bad the colours make the text hard to read. Why not use the original colours? I will contact the developers about this. Please do that you too.)

And.. I see that you use the same DAW as I. Bitwig Studio! ☺️👍
Edit: Noticed your other videos, so I subscribed. 😁

  6. This is really really cool. The developer should consider the possible option of turning off the bit-reduction – this kind of quick sampler/slicer is something that is sorely needed in Reaper.

  7. I could do a combo simpler + erosion to achieve a similar result, but I think I can lose 10 bucks to have that nice early millennial looking sampler that makes me wanna make illegal-liquid-funky-dnb.exe

  8. Blown away by how good this is for just 13 bucks. Really quick and fun to use and fantastic sound! Could get the same results through other means but it wouldn't be anywhere near as fast or as musical. Having the "Akaizer" built in it's a game changer for me. And a fun chord memory mode built in?? 10/10 full stop.

  9. Can I ask, how well does this plugin do with saving/loading projects? Many sampler plugins I've used have ruined projects of mine when they inexplicably refuse to remember and load samples from a saved project. (Kontakt and Logic's EXS are on my good list. Sforzando, Decent Sampler, TX16Wx have all broken my heart)

Amigo sounds like an instant buy IF it isn't gonna break my heart when I try to load a project, but I am a bit gunshy with stuff like this.
