  1. Just upgraded to a 5800X3D from a 3600X with a RX6800. Im liking where AM5 and 7000 series gpus are going. I probably wont upgrade platform now until maybe zen6 and by that time maybe will be at 8000 series Radeon.

  2. it costs AMD around 60% of the price to manufacture soo 600 (the memory alone is almost 300$). they "could" sell it for 800$ but that's hardly a profit after R&D and overhead. 1000 is still crazy low.

  3. with amd i can get a 4k @ 144 and the 7900 xtx and still leave a hundred left over. for the price of the 4090, and i don't even think about the 4090 ti. i could upgrade to am5 for what it'll cost you.

  5. As an owner of the 6950 XT, I previously had the 3070 I think I'm gonna have to upgrade to a 7900 XTX. It's a no brainer, I own a G9 Odyssey Neo and I think AMD have won the generation already with their pricing and DP 2.1. At $1000 I don't mind upgrading again, while NVIDIA at $1600 it's just a rip off for the money they are asking for. So yeah I think once I see performance side-by-side comparison of the 7900 XTX and the 4090 I'll ultimately decide, but as it stands I'm in the root for AMD with their 7900 XTX so far. Hopefully performance is close to the 4090, even 10% less would be perfect considering the price but we shall see. W RDNA 3

  6. I like how they say the 7900xt/xtx won't "blow you away in performance" when only 1 card can currently beat them and not by even that much for the price difference. And if the 3090 vs 6900xt/6950xt is anything to go by, it would still be game specific where an optimized AMD game would tie/beat it. Why does nobody talk about optimization when it comes to this stuff (yes I know Nvidia has been better at getting this done vs AMD). But still doesn't change the fact that literally lines of code "can" make one better than the other not so much the hardware being weaker.

  7. i literally said, after the 4090 presentation, that if AMD's top GPUs were even capable of half the increase of the 4090 but ran at reasonable temps and voltages, and were priced considerably cheaper, that I would be switching camps. Guess what, a team red GPU to go with my team red CPU. (Switched from team blue during 3000 series and just picked up a 5950X at 30% off sale price).

  8. I would have gone with the RTX 4090, but because of DisplayPort 2.1 and the power connector issue, I'm leaning toward the Radeon 7900 XTX. Price is not an issue, as this is my graphics card, in the same way that price is not an issue when it comes to my monitor. But I'll choose the product that's the best fit for my system and my needs. I know I'll be sacrificing some performance in terms of FPS, but the lack of the newer DisplayPort on the 4090 is a major drawback, as my current 8K monitor (a Dell UP3218K) has a TAB error (annoying vertical lines near the edge of the screen) and I'll likely be upgrading as soon as someone makes an 8K monitor that's objectively better.
