  1. 8:55 "it's Amazon what do you expect?" to be honest.. I expected Amazon to make the game free or at the least have no cashshop, etc.. Literally Amazon is a trillion dollar company.. why would they want or care for microtransactions, it's literally pennies to them, even the whales spending thousands would be pennies to Amazon, a drop in an ocean.

  2. "We delayed our own game so much because we cheaped out now we need a get rich quick scheme that will only destroy the game before it starts, taking away replayability and enjoyment of a NATURAL and FUN MMO"
Just call the new game Maple Story if you want to ruine a Top 5 All time game with a simple cash shop 😂

  3. Micro transactions make companies a lot more money than selling a game for $60. Very few people would buy an good game for $200, but a company can make that much in micro transactions averaged across all players. Look at how much money Epic makes from a free game like Fortnight:

“As of May 2020, it has a total user base of more than 350 million. Since 2018, the game has registered revenues of more than a Billion, every year.”

Can anyone make $1,000,000,000 a year from game without micro transactions?

If a Twitch streamer made three times more money taking their shirt off they would do it.

This isn’t Amazon’s fault it’s the fault of people who spend thousands on micro transactions. The costs of game development has gone up significantly, but the cost of games hasn’t. Micro transactions are the way for game companies to make more money.

  4. Now, their Twitter account copypastes the same reply to every anti-cash shop comment under their posts that "at launch the cash shop will be focused on cosmetics and there will be no boosts available right away". But the damage is already done. So they were hoping people will keep quiet about this when they posted this on NDA forums, but they should have though really really hard before coming out with this statement to begin with, so it's on them. The PR for MMORPGs is so terrible it's hard to believe. Now the damage is done and it's bad and I can already see comments of people cancelling their preorders. Even if there are going to be no boosts at the beginning, it's clearly in their market strategy and they will be there, a year after the launch or two, no matter.

  5. I suppose they want to go the PoE way. In PoE standard gear looks like absolute shit. You can have gazillion dps, have best in slot gear and look like a homeless person without pants and with a potato sack on his head. With mtx cosmetics you look like absolute fucking GOD. I hate that there is such huge difference. You are either a hobo or a god, no inbetween. But in a clusterfuck of a game like PoE cosmetics don't really matter to me. In MMO it is more important. I hope they do not make it that standard skin of the Uber Elite Gladiator Greatsword of Domination of the Noobs is just a wooden stick.

  6. Well, there's one argument in defense… and that's as for the people (>Asmongold) who immediately didn't drop interest when its survival PvP meta was nerfed into a trinity theme park, so deserve to get FAQ'ed by a Korean game.

  7. AAA developers nowadays look at other companies making cash off the bloated corpse of a decade old game and without so much as a second thought drop another rotting corpse out onto the street and start patting themselves on the back.

  8. Ha! People must be desperate for a new MMO because I hadn't even heard of New World until this video. You're so reluctant to try FF14 when it's been crushing WoW for the last 5 years atleast and for good reason. Stay where you are, be unhappy, complain about wow all the time (it's getting real fucking old and sad now, it's on you not Blizzard by this point) or come to FF14….. actually don't come to FF14 it might not be good for the community xD

  9. None of this sounds like P2W to me. A cash shop that is P2W implies you can buy items for real world money that aren't obtainable from just playing the game. This sounds more like pay for convenience than pay to win. Both concepts are awful and don't belong in an MMO tho. But whatever, I never had any hope for New World anyway, the game looks pretty but it also looks boring as shit.

  10. i have no problem with games selling cosmetics, simply put, the art for the game is done before the scripting is, it takes less time and once the artist is done they have down time where they're simply not doing anything.

boost and other such are somewhat sketchy, if added sometime after the release of the game i have no issues with it, they're essentially a catch up mechanic at that point.

would i rather they weren't in the game? Yes.
Would i rather play a game that makes more money so has more employees to add new content? Yes.

you only have to look at a lot of MMOs these days to see that theres an issue with the lack of content.

  11. If y’all really thought in 2021 a multibillion dollar company wouldn’t try to shove micro transactions and cash shops into a modern mmo then I want what you’re smoking. Game was always doomed to fail from the start.

  12. Let's be honest here, no one is surprised by this. I don't really mean this in a sense of how MMO players are used to getting fucked in the ass constantly by terrible practices and monetization, I mean it's fucking Amazon of all companies. Did you seriously think they weren't going to add in some kind of cash shop into the game? You should have seen this shit coming from a mile away.
