Airfix's Newly Reboxed 1/48 Seafire F.XVII | Full Build | HD

Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed this one, I personally think it might’ve been my best to date but be sure to let me know what you think! For a ten-year-old kit, I was impressed, to say the least. See you next time!

  1. A fantastic build, 😃 and a great save on the paint, if it were me, the kit would probably ended up in pieces against the nearest wall. Also it appears that Airfix have a new? plastic it doesn't look like the soapy blue/grey that the other Spits are molded in.And I agree about the weathering pencils they are fantastic.

  2. Excellent work. I was in two minds about getting this kit – you never know what you're going to get with older Airfix kits, but this one looks good, so it will be added to the Spitfire stash.

  3. My grandfather has commented that this looks very authentic. He was onboard HMS Indefatigable in the 2nd world war. Later planes that graced the flightdeck were seafire and sea fury aircraft. Thank you for the video.

  4. Very nice build Luke!

With your comments about the EDSG, ours is mixed to the real formula for BS640. It has been mentioned a couple of times that it could be too blue, but as it is mixed to the formula, we are confident that it is correct and does look right to us when we see it painted on models, specifically the two toned EDSG/Forest Green camo patterns.

  5. This model looks fantastic , the usual amount of quality. As for me personally, a UK aircraft fanatic, I prefer AK real colors , I discovered them two years ago, and they are excellent, especially the EDSG. I'm sure your next build will be the Gannet weeks before it's even distributed!

  6. Great video. Interesting comment on SMS Extra Dark Sea Grey. I used this on my RAN Firefly last year and thought, yep, too blue. However, under a couple of coats of gloss varnish and a final coat of VMS Matt Varnish it lost that blue and looked very much like EDSG.

  7. Another exceptional build and video Luke! I have tried the AK RAF Dark Sea Grey for my Firefly build but like you said, its still not looking perfect. I think its the strong contrast going against the RAF SKy.

  8. Canopy didn't fit well because of the gap in the fuselage that you created with poor assembly technique. Filling in the gap with super glue is amateur stuff. Good weathering though.

  9. Pretty model – the flaps shouldn’t be down on the ground on any parked Spit or Seafire as that was a quick way to lose your pneumatic pressure. If you really want to do that then the little doors in the upper surface of the wing should be open to allow the ends of the jacks to protrude.

  10. The Seafire XVII is, in my opinion, probably the best looking of the Spitfire/Seafire series, I really wish Airfix would consider downscaling this kit to 1/72 to help fill a gap in the 1/72 Spitfire/Seafire market.
