Against All Odds was written specifically for the Taylor Hackford movie with the same name. The movie was a remake of the Film Noir classic Out of the Past, which starred Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas, where an old friend of a nightclub owner (and mob boss) returns from serving in prison and falls in love with the boss’s girlfriend. In the remake, the boss is James Woods (famous for his recurring role in The Family Guy, and a bunch of movies, where he is usually the bad guy), and the protagonist is Jeff Bridges, with the beautiful Rachel Ward as the girlfriend.
