Now it’s time for Eagle to save his totally-not-love interest . But let’s have the ship sail!
Ah I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks of that as Sami’s response.
I do wonder if Eagle has going through his mind ‘Wow I got off easy with her in my first encounter. I don’t know how I would respond to that if I was on the receiving end’ or if it’s more of a case of ‘Well I don’t think I need to worry for Sami if she can give that harsh of a tongue lashing, I better still fly to her aid so her troops aren’t wiped out’
This mission is weird for me. As I have tried to get Sami to capture Adder’s HQ. It is really hard and requires a lot more turtling than you’d think.
Next is. A tedious mission. I feel bad for Jess getting two missions that are gimmicky.
2:34 Translation: These $#@!ing ?>"hats think they can get me to surrender? Let's see those #$&%ing idiots try. Drake: And I thought I was the sailor.
3:17 Exactly how I imagine it going in my head (including the voice bleeps).
Makes sense for Adder, as he often is stated to specialize more in war mind games and as such he knows when and how to twist the knife.
26:21 That makes sense, since Eagle was the one who kept going after Andy and co. claiming Andy was a war criminal; and didn't even acknowledge his faults until Andy Times Two. This goes to show how much Eagle has subtly changed as a character, as he is willing to help those who threaten his friends, even if he once was a major thorn for them.
32:57 That's uh…. that doesn't sound broken at all!
"Surrender? Surrender?! Hahaha… Okay, soldier, here's my reply, and I want you to take this down word for word…"
Even though there's a lot to keep track of in this mission, I find it quite satisfying to play. It's a large map, but Eagle's air units can cover a lot of ground in little time. Even though Sami only brought a small number of troops with her, she at least brought a missile so she can actually contribute against Adder's air units. I actually never thought to have her try to break through to grab some bases or airports. She starts in such a dangerous spot, I didn't think it'd be worth trying. By the time it's safer to do so, the map's probably won by then?
15:12 Snakes are predators, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Adder maps were intentionally designed the way they are.
And so we are back to your regularly scheduled strategy game, this time with ships! 1:03 Unfortunately, Dual Strike is not here yet, and it also doesn't allow for trios. 1:56 We interrupt this conversation for the sake of maintaining this game's rating 3:09 Ah yes, the Abridged vids. Masters at making whatever the topic is seem way worse for those that don't know but also have it be 100% accurate for those that do know. 11:26 We ignoring the missile she also starts with? Okay, understandable. 22:33 As it turns out, a double turn makes it surprisingly simple to get Power 24:59 Substraction is now called reverse math. According to my math teacher in last term, substraction and division are lies. So we gotta fill out the slots someway, right? 25:35 Sami Eagle ship appreciation! 27:20 Kaboom! 29:25 As with all other indirects, if it ever runs out of ammo, that's been a very good missile. 32:09 Hmmmmmmm… I got nothing. 36:06 Which is good because Sasha exists and would basically be 10% bulkier forever with you getting no powers to speak of as long as she's good with managing her income. 49:17 Hooray, perfect
So, I have been playing Trails into Reverie, and I am loving it! Right now, I am partway through each protagonist's Act 4, and I'm currently doing some Reverie Corridor stuff. Now, to address the elephant in the room, the localization isn't perfect. There are typos, mistranslations, undubbed lines (thankfully, those lines are not major whatsoever, just a few battle lines that most people won't see), and even some bugs, including the infamous Link Attack bug (thankfully, since I have the PC version, that was fixed in a patch, and even before then, I found a way of fixing it. As for the people who are playing on consoles… my condolences). But aside from those things (which will hopefully be patched out eventually), I don't have any other major complaints, this game is amazing! Heck, the localization added more voiced lines than there were in the Japanese version, which is always great! Overall, despite the issues with the localization, I am having a blast with this game, and it's shaping up to be one of my favourite games in the series!
So in regards to shopping in general, I don’t know if this is milquetoast or incredibly out there but it’s actually kind of hard for me to ship something in any way seriously if there isn’t a canon implication of interest between one or both parties, not only does that mean that theirs material to base the ship on but in cases of their being a default love interest whe there is multiple it means that there tends to be more material that isn’t in service of the player pursuing them as a love interest.
Or reading on reading into something as romantic that isn’t mean to be explicitly romantic, something that I have seen with a lot of ships who will read into characters caring for each other and having a close bond as shopping material.
In regards to Advance Wars, I can see it and don’t see it with Eagle and Sami, on the one hand the game mechanics do something encourage this the same way that Sumia is highest in priority for Chrom’s marriage partner, they have as you said a very high tag affinity, you have things like parent and child, siblings, best friends and the like as justification for high affinity, why would Eagle and Sami have similar affinity to Knabei and Sonja if they didn’t have a very close relationship.
On the one hand, I feel it’s a consequence of this games story writing and the fact that Eagle and Sami don’t have much screen time together in either of these two games, theirs not much relationship development between the two especially in the romantic sense to completely establish it.
So talking about Tag Affinity and how that often reflects on story based relationships, I actually really don’t like whom has the worst Tag Affinity due to said interaction with story, as you said in the video the second worse affinity is Olaf and Lash, this comes from a very serious story incident where Lash destroyed and reminded his hometown, likely killing a lot of people, some of which he likely knew personally to be part of her experiment, the justification is over him insulting her in a way that is less insulting than what Eagle did to Sami in Advance Wars I, which also carries the implication that she dislikes him more than Olaf would dislike Lash for much pettier reasons.
So onto another Intelligent Systems game with limited romantic development, I admittedly found it very weird that Engage has pretty much no kind of relationship system outside the Avatar, keep in mind that since 1990 there have been romantic subplots present in the vane and since 1996 before continuing in 2002 there had always been some kind of romantic relationship management in the game through either paired endings or in some cases like Awakening having a way to have units marry during the game itself.
While I’m admittedly not someone whom considers romantic shipping the most important thing it is a game, but I find it harder to get invested in a ship in a game which doesn’t give you much to work with, with the closest you get to explicit romance or interest is Chloe and Fogado having romantic partners in their paired endings and Madeline having a crush on Xenologue Mauvier.
So something I recently learned is that the Analyse Art from Trails into Reverie and hence likely every other game it’s been in is actually reflected by an enemy and hence does damage to you if they have Arts Reflect up, something I wasn’t expecting considering that while it’s an Art that effects an enemy it doesn’t do damage unlike every other art which isn’t support based in the latter Cold Steel games
Well, after technical difficulties we got things back rolling in here, let's hope that it's smooth sailing from here- No Drake I did not call for you, go away, we need a ship here but it's not yours!
Part of my brain really wants to know what Sami actually wrote in her response but the other part loves it's left to one's imagination because all we know is that is was rude enough for a soldier to refuse to say it out loud in front of his commander even when asked for it. I can only imagine if he said that out loud the rest of the army would've been shocked enough that they do a reverse Lightning Strike and just waste a turn doing nothing while gathering themselves.
Btw I have since then actually bought FE Warriors Three Hopes thanks to an extremely convenient Amazon discount (2023 is just being my lucky year) and I cannot unhear Eagle sharing VA with Holst now since the voice is pretty much identical. Which is ironic given Holst's sword is meant to counter flying units in that game.
Actually wait a minute: A Fire Emblem Swordmaster who is a highly respected general of his nation and heir to his family's title, being quite OP at doing what he does, being very protective of his sibling, having a deep, reasonably booming voice, a personal sword, lightning-based abilities and spiky hair… Holst is literally Ryoma 2.0 in nearly every way.
0:00 Yay, you're back~ Here's hoping this computer lasts more than a year this time. 3:17 Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, but at first I was thinking totally different, to paraphrase: "To the Black Hole Commander. NUTS! The Orange Star Commander"
2:57– But that was fun to edit in. lmao 13:39– Yeah that naming scene sounds like a pain. 15:30– I mean he fits that kind of description. As much of a failure he is normally, at least he lives up to that part of his self-proclaim title of being an expert a psychological warfare. 25:48– And quite a nice quote too. In case you didn't use Eagle in AW1's final battle, this gives him a nice chance to further make amends besides him helping out in Andy Times Two. 26:00– I mean, Andy Times Two was kind of his redemption arc (even more so if you picked Andy for that fight), but I think that quote here really does help Eagle out regardless since it shows he still wants to continue to make things and continues his growth after the first game. 30:17– Yeah, that sounds like very much of a meme to win with Sami on this map like that. Very much a sh^^ and giggles activity to do after you've already done everything with a mission (i.e beat it and get 300 on it first). 32:40– After hearing all of that, all I have to say is holy hell that's even more than the brokenness that I already heard about it!!! Also yeah, sounds like the die hard EaglexSami shipper was in charge of game balancing on that project. Xp 36:08– Man they really did constantly change up the generic power bonus a lot didn't they? First it was +10% to both atk and defense in AW1, here it's just for defense, and then Dual Strike has it be just to firepower. Did Days of Ruin settle on one of those bonuses and got close to some kind of standardization for that? 37:08– Yeah, that pain is the worst kind when it comes to games. 43:55– No, that honestly sounds right given how Eagle reacts to Sami at the end of their mission in AW1. I think that's certainly a part of what helps create the dynamics that are a part of the ship's foundations. 47:34– And now I'm imagining those fighter pilot spirit just going "really dude, not even the super power" in response to what their deaths amounted to. Xp 48:51– Sorry for all of the dark humor, but I'd like to imagine Eagle retorts with "No, that mistake I'm still kind of annoyed about Commander Klingy," before going back to comfort mode for Sami. lol In other news, a decent bit since last time. For Octopath Traveler 2, made solid if slow progress since last time given the time difference. That said, I've now have half of the final character chapters done. All of which I handle well for the most part… Except for the first one. Yeah there's kind of a saying/idea with Octopath that which ever final chapter you do first will be the hardest one since you're the least prepared for it, but even disregarding that, much like Octopath Traveler 1, I think I once again stumbled upon the hardest of said bosses first, which was rough. Managed to snag a first try win, but ultimately did a run back due to both being salty about how difficult that boss was and forcing me to use an item I'm trying to save for later to survive it. For sanity's sake for anyone playing these games in a semi-spoiler free way of saying it, maybe avoid doing the "least relevant" final chapters first for Octo 1 and 2. Anyway, the other final chapters I handled much better since the second one, despite their gimmicks/tricks looking painful to deal with, surprisingly went down faster than I expected. And then the third boss I fought… I'll let this reaction of mine speak for itself… "Alright, we won that fight with little tro- Wait why do I have the extra money bonus for not getting hi- Processing… … HOW DID I NOT GET HIT DURING A FRIKIN BOSS BATTLE WITHOUT EVEN TRYING?!" Yeah, that was certainly something and that boss joins the dishonorable ranks of failing to even scratch me with Ode Iou. Despite being over leveled slightly and having some powerful tools at my disposal, that boss itself was kind of a pushover for even final character chapter bosses in Octopath, having even less compared to bosses from the first game and most of the other final chapter bosses I've faced so far in Octopath 2; Having 4K less than the one that had the least in Octo 1, which that boss had balanced out due to its gimmick of being hard to break, and so far only having more HP than one final chapter boss in Octo 2 I've faced so far (who realistically has way more than that). Such a joke of a boss, although it at least has amusing ironic potential due to voice actor jokes and them voicing an actually horrifying powerful boss in another game. Anyway, that tangent aside, then today I just finished up another final character chapter boss to bring me half way through and they were honestly easy, but were at least interesting and had a far cooler gimmick thanks to its story and gameplay integration. And now it'll be time to start working on the latter half of stories that I have left. As for Master Duel, been also busy there; Since I'm honestly becoming more interested in trying out more of a control play style lately, decided to go all in on the new selection pack focusing on making Labyrinth deck. After spending most of my saved up resources, was able to make the deck outside of some tech choices I should have tried in hindsight. However, still learning the ins and outs by watching some videos and (can't believe I didn't even think to try something like this before) using solo mode as a safer testing ground on how to pilot it. For now, normal pendulums and the zombie deck have been my main way to recuperating my investments from that (and also from a meme deck that was a part of that grand investment of a hybrid Labrinth/Eldlich deck as I jokingly ship Lady and Golden Lord for a head canon of them randomly ending up together due to Yugioh players hating trap/control style decks) and will probably be playing MD a lot more than usual to recover.
9:15 It's always nice when they do something for the unlikely wins, which is why I like the Black Knight's retreat quote in Part 3 Chapter 7 of Radiant Dawn.
13:52 That is unfortunate, but on the bright side, they can't do any worse than Heart of Fire.
13:31 Definitely put me in the crowd that finds "interceptor" to be a more fitting name for the fighters. Though conversely, artillery is far more upfront than "Mech Gun".
It's cathartic seeing Eagle blasting things apart after the Drake tedium. And glad to see uploads come back (oddly the break synced perfectly with me going through Reverie's main story).
"Oh, She called me out and insulted me(Kinda), Oh boy, She's amazing! I think I have a crush on her!" That sounds so stupid to me… But I get that he wants to make up for his mistakes. Still, that statement rubs me the wrong way. It's like in XC2: Oh dear, Mythra sure is abusive, but my god, She's amazing! I think I'm in love!". I hate that trope so much, but at least it's not that bad in AW2. That's Another reason as to why I don't like Trails or P4/P5 anymore… Oh, how the tides have changed… Edit: I'm not saying anything bad about you Klingy. It's just a trope I dislike.
Sure got Sami in a picked surrounded position by Adder's forces while her forces bringing supplies to Eagle's forces… Not to fret since the gentleman hero comes to save his girl from them.. Ends out very nicely so Aww. I can say Canon Ship. (Course one fighter did so to stall out.. Happens.) 25:34 – 26:20 / "Hearing Eagle saying unique line in this chapter about of Sami & best time with a Super Power, that puts the coolest moment to date."
Given Bigklingy's explanations… I see… At the very least they both brightens up & very developed than the last Advanced Wars game shown about Sami & Eagles relationship minimally & how they were acting when U seen of them in their roles separately despite at odds at each other for once but not anymore & together, they're unstoppable to be made not to be trifled with…
After that, looks Adder is not gonna send out more his forces now the 4 of his laser R destroyed into a scrap. Also, Perfect S Rank. Very nice. (Eagle pose. So cool for Sami cheers.)
16:50 Am I the only one who noticed that Adder put an infantry on a city that was in range of the laser that spent the whole mission trying to capture it on 1 hp? I noticed it around the 40 minute mark and thought how long has it been trying to take that city and it turns out that it was almost the entire time
This is the map I always associate with the ally super power theme – Eagle heroically rushing to his GF's rescue at double speed with a bunch of fighters and bombers while awesome music plays. A bit of a shame it doesn't play here anymore.
ok wasn't expecting a Yugioh Abridged Reference but i am pleased none the less
If Adder was an animal he’d definitely be a Snake considering he literally hisses
Thumbnail just reminds me of the absolute broken dual strike combo with these two. That was just fun but absolutely broken.
There are a few Sami x Eagle pictures, but they seem fairly tame from what I saw
That Yugioh Abridged audio with Sami against Adder is hilarious.
I can already see Adder just being stunned into silence before just looking to his troops. "…Kill her. painfully. NOW."
Description: The ship finally soars!
Me: So… like the airship from Final Fantasy?
3:02 Sami just casually uttering the elder swear
Also, I think the Fighter being called an Interceptor in Days of Ruin is a better name for it. Primarily because It reminds me of XCOM.
"Surrender? Surrender?! Hahaha… Okay, soldier, here's my reply, and I want you to take this down word for word…"
Even though there's a lot to keep track of in this mission, I find it quite satisfying to play. It's a large map, but Eagle's air units can cover a lot of ground in little time. 31:13 Ah yes, my favourite tag power: Literal Cheating
What did Sami say (Wrong Answers Only)

25:35 Sami Eagle ship appreciation!
27:20 Kaboom!
29:25 As with all other indirects, if it ever runs out of ammo, that's been a very good missile.
32:09 Hmmmmmmm… I got nothing.
36:06 Which is good because Sasha exists and would basically be 10% bulkier forever with you getting no powers to speak of as long as she's good with managing her income.
49:17 Hooray, perfect
0:28 Yay, time for Eagle to help out his waifu!
1:55 I wonder if the reply is just "f*ck you", or something to that effect.
3:10 Okay, I see. I was thinking maybe it was from Monty Python.
4:13 Yeah, that's not great.
10:35 When are missiles ever useful?
15:10 Man, it is so weird hearing Griffin Burns as Adder again after getting used to hearing him as Wazy in Trails into Reverie.
24:52 Yeah, got to love it when stuff like that happens!
25:46 Huh, that's neat. Also, yay, more Eagle x Sami shipping!
30:31 I've heard about that, and it is absolutely ridiculous!
46:12 Oh yeah, good point. Let me try it for myself… actually, all of these are pretty safe for work.
46:16 Right, that too.

I'm sorry about your hard drive. That must have been… infuriating to say the least.
0:57 He isn't.
1:54 This is going to be good!
2:28 This is golden.
3:04 BWAHAHAHAHAHA! I need to watch this someday!
9:15 It's always nice when they do something for the unlikely wins, which is why I like the Black Knight's retreat quote in Part 3 Chapter 7 of Radiant Dawn.
13:52 That is unfortunate, but on the bright side, they can't do any worse than Heart of Fire.
15:41 I agree; it's very fitting for a sadist.
24:46 I do that… a lot.
25:35 That DOES make it sound like they're in a relationship.
29:10 That's the best way to go in these situations.
30:41 That's amazing!
31:26 And they said Galeforce was busted!
32:22 They're leaning hard on this ship.
40:18 Keep your wits about you, Volug.
42:59 Sounds like her.
46:08 That's certainly one way to do it.
Yes, a good game of Advance Wars will improve my day.
Also, my headcanon for this is similar to General McAuliffe's response to the Nazis: NUTS!
3:03 As a fellow Yugioh fan, I can understand that completely
Yay, Lash! … For, like, a few seconds.
Let me try this and see if it's helpful or not

"Oh, She called me out and insulted me(Kinda), Oh boy, She's amazing! I think I have a crush on her!"
That sounds so stupid to me…
But I get that he wants to make up for his mistakes.
Still, that statement rubs me the wrong way.
It's like in XC2: Oh dear, Mythra sure is abusive, but my god, She's amazing! I think I'm in love!".
I hate that trope so much, but at least it's not that bad in AW2.
That's Another reason as to why I don't like Trails or P4/P5 anymore…
Oh, how the tides have changed…
Edit: I'm not saying anything bad about you Klingy.
Happens.)
25:34 – 26:20 / "Hearing Eagle saying unique line in this chapter about of Sami & best time with a Super Power, that puts the coolest moment to date."
Sami's units got completely destroyed a few times until I managed to beat this mission.
16:50 Am I the only one who noticed that Adder put an infantry on a city that was in range of the laser that spent the whole mission trying to capture it on 1 hp? I noticed it around the 40 minute mark and thought how long has it been trying to take that city and it turns out that it was almost the entire time
God Adder theme is so good it's kind of good to hear it again
My headcanon was simpler:
"F*** you, you slimy pos."
Edit:
☇You should get Lightning Strike…
☇NOW! ☇
This is the map I always associate with the ally super power theme – Eagle heroically rushing to his GF's rescue at double speed with a bunch of fighters and bombers while awesome music plays. A bit of a shame it doesn't play here anymore.
Eagle:Wife got it!
I absolutely love and hate that Sami could absolutely just curse a ton in that piece of paper and it could actually be cannon
