Adam Miller At TPS [Looping Masterclass, Awesome Improv & A New Nik Huber!]

Incredible tone, playing and tips from the Australian instrumentalist

Welcome to the show. It is our great pleasure to welcome the wonderful Adam Miller to the show! Adam hails from Newcastle-Upon… Pacific. (That’s Newcastle, Australia.)
In his earlier career, Adam was known predominantly for his acoustic guitar playing, but over the years has gravitated to more and more electric stuff, fusing incredible jazz-blues sensibilities with creative approaches to looping, self-accompaniment and small-ensemble playing.
In this video we get up to speed with Adam’s most recent work while checking out his new Nik Huber guitar and getting schooled in looping.
Please check out more of Adam’s output via your favourite streaming devices, via his courses on TrueFire… and of course please get out to see him play live if you can!

  1. I found I could rarely sound like the guitarists I admired. Every time I picked up a guitar, I still sounded like me. When I played with other people, they always wanted to play the tunes they knew. So, I learned a bunch of music theory, so I could play along with whatever they wanted to play and serve the music as best I can.

Of course, I never tried to make a living with the poverty box. Every time I play, it is an experiment. IMHO the essence of commercial music is repeatability. People don't know what they like, they like what they know. I could care less about repeating some tune 3 nights a week for 30 years.

  2. Adam! A true GEM 💎! He was gracious enough to come on my channel and he is an amazing player but, an even better human!

Adam is honest, humble, creative, passionate and intelligent! A rare breed! Thanks to TPS for getting him on the show! A pleasure to watch (and learn). ❤

    Keep on cooking Adam! 👏🏻

    Peace,
    Shawn

  3. Its funny I bought my first and only amp because of adam and tps, the two rock classic reverb. Him describing it as the soundboard of an acoustic guitar is so perfect, because i'm primarily an acoustic guitar player and it pickups, I only play it on clean because i'm still new to it, so much beautiful clarity and dynamic range. Anyways thank you very much to all of you guys for steering me that way, cheers!

  4. I discovered Adam about a year ago and instantly connected with everything about his playing. His choice of notes, the amazing dynamics, the grooves and that wonderful tone his hands create are just phenomenal! He's very similar to my other favorite guitar player (Trey Anastasio) When i think about how I want to play and sound, this guy, Mr. Adam Miller is exactly how I hear it in my head! So inspiring. I've become a huge fan!. Thank you D&M for having him on!
