A war film movie tailer about a young soldiers epic journey of sacrifice and survival at any cost.

I wanted to create a comic movie trailer of a war film in the style of Platoon or Born On The Fourth Of July. I have always been fascinated not only by the cinematography of a movie, but also the foley artists and sound designers that create everything from footsteps, the lighting of a match, a drink being poured into a glass or the sound of a rifle loaded, cocked and fired.

For example, if you watch the opening scene of George Millers Mad Max, or the shower scene in Hitchcock’s Psycho , I believe you will see two perfect examples of modern film making where sound fx , the cinematography and the actors dialogue are in perfect harmony. The role of a director is like the conductor of a symphony where every element in the performance is working as one.

I saw a post on YouTube recently that discussed some of the possible reasons why the film Furiosa performed badly at the box office. One of the critics mentioned that all the dialogue in the script had to be overdubbed by the actors in a sound studio post-production. The reason this occurred was because there was so much constant noise on the set from George Miller directing the actors, to the sounds of explosions from the pyrotechnics happening in real time.

As a critic and as an audience member, I have to agree that giving second priority to what is being said on screen poses a big problem in terms of the dialogue that is heard by the audience being in synch with the characters mouth movements. The result can be like watching a Trinity Boys spaghetti western. I imagine that most times achieving perfectly synched dialogue would be very hard to achieve as well we know from science class, light waves travel much faster than sound waves.

Until next time, bye for now.
