  1. Tom, what size is that pad…….lol, I couldn’t resist. Great video and I was getting a little withdrawal as I hadn’t seen a video in a while. You do a great job, Tom, and we all truly appreciate all the efforts to go to in supporting our communities with great recommendations. Enjoy your summer, ATB.

  2. All good solid pieces of gear I've got a few of them but with the stove I swapped the brs for the soto it fits in my 750 pot but it's tight and I swapped to the tri flex.i have the uberlite I don't have a problem with the noise but I did go to the large the extra width made so much difference for me.i know you love your winter camping so do I but the janu is just 2 much for 3 season so I use the niak for that and kuiu for winter with the extherm.but everyone as different things they want from there kit and different seasons but it's great to see what other people like

  3. Have a look at Mystery Ranch rucks! Absolute quality and the technology for distributing weight is next to none. But damn, almost or at double the price of the Osprey you reviewed. I have the Bridger. Top ruck.

  4. Hi Tom. Great to see you back out and with another quality video. Can’t disagree with you on the mighty BRS and the Jannu 💪. I’ve not taken any other stove for any season since I bought the BRS. Sleeping pads is the most tricky category for me. I really would struggle to give a winner out of my 3; the uberlight, the xtherm and the rapide sl. All are exceptional at different things, weight, warmth and comfort respectively. There must be 1 out there that is the perfect compromise of all 3 🤔. Cheers. Gary

  5. Nice video Tom. I love my Mountain 25, although I opted for the US version as it was seam sealed as opposed to that European version which wasn't?! Only thing I would love to see different it pitch as one, then again I guess the conditions it's designed for doesn't really see anything other than snow which doesn't melt. Like you, it's kind of relegated now and I use it for the odd campsite trip when the weather is bad, but once it's pitched – it's like a limpet. Atb, Chris

  6. Nice to have the gear you are happy with (for now!) 😊 Good luck with your sleeping bag research should you go there! I’ve just replaced my Rab Neutrino 400 that I’ve used a hell of a lot over the last 8 years as it lost a bit of down during that time. I didn’t even bother looking at anything else – I was a very happy customer the first time round so just went for the same option for my 3 season camping…call me lazy or maybe just not that bothered to explore 🙃

  7. Hi Tom. Nice lineup of your favorites. Makes me wanna go out and buy some new gear- can I give you the blame by the financial advisor? 😂 Nice pair of kicks. Apparently I have a thing for hiking boots. Though very personal, with fit trumping all, I would appreciate your views, if only ito weight vs support etc. ATB David, from South Africa, now working abroad- if only for a wee bit.

  8. Very cool setup, I love my BA Rapide wide/large! Works very well with my Ice Flame quilt also large, was super comfy on my 3 day solo hike last time. I switched to X-Mid 1 Solid and also like it alot so im selling my other tipi tents.
I got your backpack from 3F UL green one and tested it, was ok but its was not as comfortable and useful as my Exos 58, 1.3kg but well worth extra weight! I also have BRS but not tested yet as I also like my Speedster alcohol stove, but alot of people seem to use x-boil so maybe later in the future.
Anyway, for winter camping your set is top notch, mine is for long distance walks, not UL but love it so far.
I am considering buying big double BA Rapide family pad and not sure about the tent for 3 of us but maybe Copper Spur 3 its light and seems well made overall.
    All the best!

  9. Once again Tom, a great video. Proper reviews that I trust, based on your hard earned experience, unlike other YouTubers who are recording fifty metres their car. Thank you. 👍

  10. Enjoyed the comparisons of various kit, I must say The North Face Westwind Tent would of been my favourite it served extremely well Ski Touring and Scottish winter climbing in more remote crags. It's a pity they do not make anymore, if they did they could join Flysheet to Inner and leave room to put poles into inner to get a taut Fly pitch first. Same thoughts as Mr MCM. Looking forward to Sleeping Bag reviews. Appreciated.

  11. I've really enjoyed your videos. I'm currently in the market for a bomber 4 season tent for backcountry skiing in New Zealand. I liked your reviews of the Samaya tents but I'm not sure if they would handle a massive hit of wind. The Jannu looks great if you want more space than the Soulo. I'm probably going to get a Slingfin and sacrifice some durability for the weight savings. Thanks again.

  12. Great review, and thank you for sharing. I really appreciate how your reviews are based off of a real test out in the field and not just something someone opened up and set up for the video without trying it out.

  13. Tom, have been thinking of you. Hadn't seen much of late. Great to catch up with you. I agree with your assessments of gear. I've tried about all of those and find them very compatible for my needs and wants in my motorcycle travel. I'll most likely get the Hilleberg this summer. One tough unit. After a few nights in motels the Hille is a good investment which will pay off quick. I have just updated but not totally replaced my sleeping bag. I have a Northface Chrystilis from about 1985 that still serves me well. A pieces of tape to keep the down in. I supplemented it with a Western Mountaineering bag. Seems great, time will tell. I see a lot of good ones but semi rectangular and big is good for me. I like to open them up and use them as a blanket of tighten up to stay warm. Versatility. I'll have to pick up the stove. That small and it works is must have at least for a backup. And affordable. Hey, great seeing you again. Good vid. Safe travels.

  14. Haha Tom..
For once your behind me in tents department.
Like an idiot I sold my Jannu, then realised what a mistake that was.

For me, the size weight & strength all come together to make this the perfect tent for me and what I like to do & where & when I like to do it.

Just moved house so be editing my gear shortly with some immaculate tents which although nothing much wrong with them whatsoever they will need to go.
    Take care.
