The forecast for 4.27.23 was for clear sky, but we arrived at 7AM to a downpour. Within an hour or so, the rain stopped and the air was calm. This is how the day with free-flight gliders began. 3 of the 4 four saw both towline and hi-start action, which lasted until 630PM. In mid afternoon the clouds parted, bringing in the sun and lift…giving each of the 4 gliders their best flights ever. Surely, we can find a way to bottle this air!! Memorable. A short kit of the 36″ Schweizer 2-22 will be available from Volaré Products in mid September 2023.
The 26″ sheet glider is based on this 36″ sheet glider by Ron Warring from 1959.

Blissful! Thanks Tom
Before I went into the navy I thought that Taft Ca. was the best free flight place. After flying at Taft, Lost hills and any number of dry lakes I thing this place is the best in the nation!
thankyou for share this video, the free flight is magic.
now here in my country is autumm, the best time for this activity. i love the stick and tissue planes.
please can you tell me the size and relation of the towline machine gears, i want to build one
An enthralling video again!!!🤗
Thx.😉
I can almost smell the grass. Thank you.
Totally awesome and those dang aeroplanemagneticant irrigation ditches haha. The thermal @ 5:00…wow.
Beautiful models and great flights..thank you for sharing your skill.
Thank you for the Zen. I needed that.
🤩 Thanks!
Lovely
Another amazing video. I am intrigued about the hi-start pole and what rubber/line combination you used for the hi-start.
very consistent and high launches – both histart and winch. Beautiful models and great flights – thanks for the video.
Beautiful ! Brought back cherished memories of my Jetco Thermic 50 .
Will you be at Geneseo in June?
excellent video! Thumbs up!
How do you get the plane to go up when you start you launch? What keeps it from coming straight at you?
I imagine that you are launching into the winds?
Beautifully done…as usual….
Some beautiful flights. The first Schweitzer excursion reminds me of a greedy investor.. Every time it puts the nose down for airspeed, it makes DAMN SURE it gets some more altitude in return.. The winch is working perfectly, more than worth the R&D, and we've all seen how much effort, albeit pleasurable, went into refining this ingenious machine. Most people starting out on gliders will have a sheet constructed pod & boom type thing, so it's good to see just what can be done with a simple design. Brilliant aeromodeling. A great day's flying, well worth waiting for the rain to go! Thanks so much for this Tom, great to see you guys having such fun and success! 🌟🌟👍👍
Absolutely stunning flying 🇬🇧
The gliders seem like they are always in the moment, good stuff!
