A Few Video Games are not Terrible, but it's Getting Harder to Find Them.

Not all video games are terrible. Most are, but not all. Even in this current climate of absolute corporate greed and moral corruption, there ARE still good games out there to play. I guess a few just managed to slip through the net. Luckily, if you are prepared to use a bit of gumption, a little patience and the occasional Game Pass, you can play them for very little money.

Special thanks to Mario J. Martinez, Archangel, Theron, Michael Pearce, Jason T Barnes, Dean McGee, Steve, Alcoholistair, RageDMX47, Hector Salamanca, Corvo Fox-Gray, FatCat1, Alec C, Anna Lovatt, ATR-42, Goku OG and all of my Patreon supporters. Their stoic support humbles me.

  1. I recently decided to dust off my old gaming consoles, hook them up to my TV, modify them in various ways to play games I've downloaded because the second hand market is a shitshow for certain systems (like the GameCube), and go through some games I never played while they were relevant. Been doing a run of Need for Speed: Underground, and man, it's weird to see an EA game that has no microtransactions, lootboxes and is completely offline. Like, you just play the game and that's it. Cars and upgrades are easily bought with in-game currency, and you get plenty just from winning races. Weird, right?

  2. I honestly can’t think of a World where I’ll stop playing video games but with things they way that they are it’s getting more and more likely. Although I’m not abandoning ship just yet, I want to at least get a PC and try out Hearts Of Iron 4. I’ve been watching videos of the game since it came out and I think it’s time that I give it a go.

  3. The Xbox game pass is probably an attempt to regain some of Microsoft's past popularity, at least to the point where they start having enough public trust to then start fucking consumers again. It is quite safe to say that they lost the last few console wars to Sony and Nintendo, due to the other companies' better exclusives and comparatively consumer-friendly practices (not that any of the companies are particularly good in that regard). The Xbox hasn't really been able to contend with its peers since the Xbox360.

  5. lol I just learned that If you put real money into PUBG and a lot of it, they don’t ban you for team killing. Especially if the person reporting them hasn’t put a single dime into micro transactions. But I guess i should expect that from trash devs like that, their whole employee base is made of similar people.

  6. Even the most beloved CEOs/Founders/Owners (looking at Mike Morhaime) enjoy the golden age and sell out to a soulless corporation. As gamers we need to learn to do the same – find indy developers, ride their train through the golden age and step off/thank them for the ride once they go corporate. It's the way of the future for gamers who care about games instead of companies who could care less about them. On that point you see a lot of white knights STILL defending Blizzard, Bethesda, etc. who are content to play games because their beloved company half-assed them rather than because they actually enjoy the microtransactions.

Times are changing, and we can either change with them and adapt or move on/get left behind. Look to the independent studios and the past, I say.

  8. you forgot dragons dogma mate. i just finished my first playthrough and wonder how i ever missed it back when it was released. i think it was probably to do with the fact that skyrim had released around the same time and took all of the attention away from it. it's really very good, you should give it a try

  9. The Riftbreaker has been a pleasant surprise. I'm new to the genre and didn't know what to expect but it's a fun combo hack 'n' slash and RTS of sorts. Difficulty can be customized for sandbox, casual, or brutal play. Check out the demo.

This is a good list! Thanks for the recommendations 👌

  10. gta 5 online has masses of fanatics – thats a lot of ppl to piss off exposing the scam rockstar are running on them — – – rdr2 and gta 5 online are both f2p p2w mmos packaged in and disguised as online versions of the singleplayer games – roped everyone in to a type of game they'd never have played. very smart con. after getting burned by a f2p p2w mmo i noticed it immediately and got outta there.

  11. I have 432 games currently on Steam. I could never buy a game again for the rest of my life and still be entertained by my extensive game library. Done buying nickel and dime formulaic trash!
