A daring trip to a far away base – Occupy Mars: The Game – ep 05

Our plants are dead, and with a missing small circuit board we can not build another transformer, forcing us to go on a daring trip far away from our base. Will we make it back in time ?

  1. One tip: When going on expeditions, make sure to bring materials to build an solar panel and have at least few meters of cable to plug the rover for charging while you scavange the materials. After leaving take the panel down and the cable with you again and continue exploring (also, make sure to not overburden your inventory and make room for the mats of the solar panel)

  2. I wonder how the power output setting on the battery works? I think it is actually a limiter on power out from the battery. If, for example, in daytime the solar panels are providing 30 kW, and you set the battery output to 20 kW, but the base is only using 15 kW – I'd expect that 15kW of solar power flow thru the battery to the base (because it's less than 20 kW), and 15 kW is used to charge the battery. I might buy the game just to play with the electrical system in free play mode.

  3. to get more out of your ATV-battery try to pulse the "w" and just let the ATV more roll on its own. The friction seems to be very low on Mars and ive managed to double the distance my ATV could travel with one full charge 😉
And to get more circuitboards just dismantle the wells and transformers of the abadoned bases. Maybe it needs to upgrade your grinder first to do that.

  4. I really like this direction with exploration thing. And implementing Subnautica style PDAs… I mean tablets to unlock techs. I hope it will replace skill points eventually. In real life it makes sense that if you construct something, deconstruct and construct again over and over – you learn how to do it. But in computer games it's just boring.
