  1. Not their first choice? I guess you can take that away from what was said. There are pros and cons to every choice, whether that is who to hire as a head coach or which team to sign on to coach for, and there's a matter of compensation and benefits that change that calculus. I think they are both incredibly happy with the result here, and approached this as professionals that would have liked to, and did, come to a deal. Ultimately, this is a business, not love at first sight.

  2. I think Sean Payton was 100% the first choice lol. They used Harbaugh and others as leverage and Sean Paytons first choice was definitely Denver as well. What other team? Arizona? Lmao they're way worse off than Denver is rn. There's no other team that makes more sense then the Broncos. And no one said anything about not being each others first choice lol. There's no way Demeco Ryans was preferred over Sean Payton, sorry I just don't buy Denver wanted 4 rookie coaches in a row. Broncos wanted experience in their next coach and no coach available has the experience Sean Payton does.

  3. They never once said they weren’t each other’s first choice! Not even close. They both did what they planned Interview and see what everyone had to offer on both sides of the fence which was exactly the right thing to do between both sides

  4. "He very clearly put out there that we are not each others first choice…." ????? Terrible takeaway Ben. I think you tuned into a different press conference than the one I just listened to. 😂😂

  5. If you have follow Ben’s stance from the start of the HC search. Payton has never been his favorite and you can hear it any chances he can low key take a jab at Payton.

  6. I can’t believe they hired him after winning only one Super Bowl he was suspended for a year for bounty gate. The saints were one of the dirtiest teams for his whole time there I get he’s a good offensive coach idk we’ll see

  8. Payton seems to be exactly what the Broncos need and have needed for several years. He knows what he is doing, and he knows it. From what I know, both Paton and Payton are very much reasonable adults, and they should be able to coexist reasonably well. First, they brought in one of the best GMs in football, then one of the best QBs (still think so) in football and now one of the best HCs in football. In my math the total is wins. DB4L BOAB

  9. Why do these reporters kept reiterating that “they are not each others first choice?!” they must be Ian Rapoport’s source lol. I watched the full press conference and what I understood is that- from the beginning Sean was the choice it's just a matter of making it work with the complexity with the Saints. And Sean Payton also said- in case the Saints want bigger compensation then Payton can not take the job because it will hurt him as well! He is also looking after the team and not just do-everything-to-hire-me mentality. Also, remember after his interview he wore an orange tie to make a statement that Broncos is the choice!
