I loved it, like many others my only complaint would be the lack of animatronics in the pre-show, especially when comparing it to Mission Breakout. Maybe they will update it later on, but the ride itself is amazing
Just rode with family, several strong Gs, too terrifying and brutal for me. Never again.
this was the best review! from a GotG fan, thank you!
May 10 was definitely the best day of my life!!!! I've never been invited to a Passholder Preview in my life so this was a very huge moment for me. I personally think that Cosmic Rewind definitely exceeds on so many levels. For Epcot's first official rollercoaster it's definitely thrilling.
If you were confused on the story I think I can try to explain it the best I can. And of course SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!

So Xandar has built a pavilion at Epcot so they can display their culture to us Terrans and commemorate the Guardians following the events of Vol.1. Now I think the deal with Quill reference the Epcot classics is to appeal to the og fans but also give the joke to him since he hasn't been back on Earth since his childhood so he still thinks we're in the 80s.
Now the tour culminates with the Xandarians demonstrating the Cosmic Generator but a Celestial: Eson (E-SAWN) The Seacher who also appears in the first movie steals the generator and sends Earth back to the dawn of time. So the Guardians will enlist us to go back in time with them to save the galaxy and you pretty much know what happens after that.
Also to clarify the confusion on many things, like why Groot is an adult here and MAJOR SPOILERS for Multiverse of Madness.

This is not the main MCU 616 timeline as you were thinking. Cosmic Rewind is actually set within the Avengers Campus' timeline within the MCU like with Mission Breakout at Disneyland.
Cool ride, no doubt, but this is not a Disney ride. Compare this ride to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train where Disney invested so much in the animatronics and details. Here we have screens. It started with Fast Track and it continues with this ride and Tron. It just comes across as lazy and uninspiring. Lucky for us Disney got Rise of the Resistance right.
So Disney destroys the exterior of The Tower Of Terror with the Guardians Of The Galaxy disaster but the actual ride is just a big blue box. Yeah
Awesome ride! However, what I think Disney should do for these more recent IP drops in EPCOT is instead of dedicating individual pavilions or areas to IP, they should integrate them into each existing pavilion. Each IP drop would act as an example of Disney products or pop culture and its interpretation of that area of science and technology for that pavilion and the role it has played in advancing culture’s awareness of that field. For example. EPCOT currently has a space pavilion (mission space) which acts as a truly EPCOT example of displaying and allowing others to experience the technologies and emerging ideas of space travel. In the case of Guardians of the Galaxy, this could act as an IP example for the space pavilion, displaying pop culture’s interpretation of space technology in the movie and educating the viewer about how the ideas brought about in IP could help to inspire future technologies and generations. A short preshow film could describe this and tie the IP in and then the ride could just be a Guardians of the Galaxy ride with no need for further tie-ins to EPCOT. This model would allow Disney to happily integrate IP for every Future World Pavilion while also retaining EPCOT’s ideas of technology, edutainment, the future, and inspiration for all. World of Motion could become home to test track and IP such as Star Wars and all the examples of possible new transportation technologies that could emerge in future decades from those movies. As mentioned previously, the Space Pavilion could be home to mission space and the guardians of the galaxy. They could reconstruct the queue building behind the current space pavilion and redivert the launch tunnel to the roller coaster. The Universe of Energy could be reinstated and then become home to an IP example such as Fantasia where you discuss examples of energy seen in scenes such as bald mountain. The Living Seas could reinstate the educational dark ride and then tie in IP such as 20,000 leagues or Nemo or the little mermaid and discuss the diversity and fragility of the world’s oceans. The land could be home to living with the land, soarin’, and IP like Pocahontas or Moana. The Imagination pavilion could be home to journey into imagination and IP like alice and wonderland where you could discuss the impact of Disney animation and the whimsical creativity and imagination found in the movie on the liberal arts. Even the health pavilion could be re-instated and integrate IP like inside out where you discuss the impact of mental health and balancing emotions. Pleace feel free to let me know what you think about this idea. I really think it would benefit the Disney visitor and Disney in regards to EPCOT and IP.
is this ride fat guy friendly ?
Older people don't want to be slow boat ride people. They physically can't take the ride. Along with a couple of other rides in the area. So Epcot is now about eating and drinking. Well, I can't drink with my meds and my food intake is down. So now there are 3 rides that I can't go on, rather than the rides I could before. Maybe Disney should have thought this through. On another note… I hate screens. This is why I always preferred Disney over Universal. Real things just provide a better experience. Oh well, maybe I will be back if Chapek is gone and they are less woke.
Its the best ride in Disney hands down. Rode it 7 times and it worked perfectly each time.
I love how honest you are about everything
I only got to.ride this once. We got in the virtual queue on another day, but left before it came up. I can't stop thinking about this ride! I loved it! This the new Space Mountain! I loved it as a Dark ride and the spinning cars. This is going to be one of those rides you have to ride two or three times to get everything in there. I was worried about my sister and getting sick (she did so this ride IS NOT for the squeamish) but also enjoyed this rise at the same time! I loved the new roller coaster smell! It ran so smooth. I'm a hefty guy and was worried about the lap bar and my belly, but I had ZERO issues! (I tweeked some cartilage in my ribs on Space Mountain) This is my new favorite ride! Guardians Mission Breakout is a very close 2nd!
As far as this ride fitting in EPCOT, I think it fits fine. It's meant as galactic portion of EPCOT. It fits with the space stuff that's in EPCOT. To me, it's fine. And I think Disney want to bring more people to EPCOT, and this is a way of doing it.
No Animatronics….rippppp offfff
I had the pleasure of being able to go twice yesterday, there were no technical issues both times and the line moved pretty smoothly, especially my second time around. I probably only waited 10 minutes before I made it to the pre show, and the line was filled up before the exhibit room. I tried my best to go into this ride as blind as poss and while the first section of the queue gave off odd Ikea vibes to me after the teleportation scene it was all uphill from there. The first time the flashing lights gave me a bit of a headache and were a bit disorienting, but all in all it was pretty great because I was in the back corner of the room facing away from the wall that was going to lift away, and so I turned around and the generator was right in front of me. It looked REALLY good in my opinion! I was in a state of shock by the time we went on to the loading area. The lap bar on the seat was very secure for me which I really liked and it allowed me to feel safe putting my hands in the air for a majority of the ride, sometimes the Gs made it hard to keep them up though. To be, the ride was absolutely AMAZING!! I felt like I hadn’t fully processed everything by the time I got off but in the best way possible, my jaw was dropped the whole ride. I really couldn’t pay attention at all to the plot the first time because of the pure awe I was in so I’m glad I got to do it a second time, and really the plot was my only complaint, a VERY small one though. The second time I waved to the people in the window and danced the whole ride, the music really makes the whole experience even more fun. I can safety say this has to be my new favorite attraction at Disney! I got a bit of a headache but it was just so unimaginably thrilling and satisfying how the carts moved and how the ride felt, I already can’t wait to go again! I highly recommend it except if you have motion sickness, I’ve heard stories of people getting sick on this ride and I would not be surprised AT ALL. I’m just waiting till someone goes on it completely wasted to hear the story that comes out of that, I couldn’t not imagine.
I think saying Guardians doesn’t belong in Epcot then you can say Avatar doesn’t belong in Animal Kingdom , Epcot is meant to show you their world and how futuristic it is compared to ours and the technological advancements that we can potentially obtain, same with Avatar it’s them showing us their world and animals and perseverance of life
Excuse me I know what Horizons is I know what the universe of energy is I was going to Walt Disney World before you were
Nice review mickey views !
The music choices are.. oh boy! They were fitting!
Loved the actual ride itself; it would be a great ride even if they took away the Guardians of the Galaxy theming. I’ve ridden it twice now, on two separate visits, and it’s probably my new favorite ride in Orlando… a very close second would be VelociCoaster in Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. I went in with low expectations, expecting more of an Escape from Gringotts style attraction, but was pleasantly surprised with it being a full coaster and how fluidly the ride vehicles turned while moving. The complaint I have is the lack of needing to attach an IP (Intellectual Property) to the ride. They could have called it Space Mountain 2.0 and it wouldn’t change the quality of the ride at all, but I’m sure it would have saved millions of dollars they spent on the footage and theming in the queues, as well as paying the actors for their appearances. My second complaint is the blue warehouse that houses the ride, and the eyesore that it is from both the parking lot and within the park. I love Walt’s vision and philosophy on theming and full immersion inside the parks, and this seems to go directly against that. I agree that the ride feels like it doesn’t belong in EPCOT, and would have made more sense in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. While I love the ride, I’m shocked that Bob Chapek—as focused as he’s been about Disney’s bottom line rather than guest experience—would spend a rumored estimate of $500 Million on this one single attraction.
Lol…absolutely NOT an extreme coaster. It's still very much a tame disney ride.
I want one at Disneyland
Honestly I think the ride could’ve fit more nicely into Epcot if it paid a little more focus on the villain’s motivation. His motivation is that he’s seen how badly humanity has messed up over the years and decided that Earth should be eradicated from history. I found this interesting because the one unifying theme of Epcot in both it’s past and present state is being one big celebration of Earth as well as presenting an optimistic view of humanity and it’s future. And since this is a ride that involves time travel, with a centerpiece moment being a trip around Earth. So I think with a bit of retooling they could’ve found a way to make this the ultimate culmination everything we learned in Epcot about human nature as a sort of refutation to the bad guy’s views on humanity. Nothing really too deep and certainly would’ve come off as preachy, but that’s Epcot in a nutshell.
The Chris Pratt dialogue is so inexplicably bad, it looks and sounds like he doesn't know his lines or have any idea what they mean
this NEEDS A SINGLE RIDER LINEEEEEEEE÷
Disney should have just installed this inside Space Mountain. It would have thematically worked better in Tomorrowland. If they wanted to keep the original Space Mountain, they could have built a twin Space Mountain right next door for this fictional roller coaster story. Today’s Disney executives have absolutely no idea what EPCOT as a world exposition was meant to be. And had they thought out of the box as Inagineering always did, EPCOT could be that World’s Fair of the future with round the clock educational programming beamed into every elementary and high school on the planet. Time to give EPCOT over to Apple and National Geographic and international university associations so that even an architecture student from Estonia or a folk dance group from Israel could have a world wide stage through EPCOT. These Hollywood baby boomer bean counters should leave EPCOT alone.
YES I LOVE THE SEPTEMBER VARIANT!!!!
Lucky for me they skipped a lot of the lame show for us and felt like we basically walked on the ride. I didn't see too much of the surrounding cuz we were moving so fast through the line. It was fast and spinny 😂I do love the music. My 6 year old loved it but I was definitely the scared one! I would not want to go on it when there was no audio or visuals no thank you.
how speed is this?
👍👍👍👍👍
For those who haven’t tried this ride yet…
I get motion sickness when I go sideways and backwards, this definitely made me feel bad afterwards. It ended my evening at Epcot. There was enough guy sat alongside me who appeared in a fair amount of strain, rubbing his head and taking deep breaths.
In comparison, I’m fine on Tron, iffy on Everest, fine on Space and Thunder Mountain. Rockin Rollercoaster is probably my limit of being ok. Indiana Jones is also fine for me.
So I don’t like the drop feeling in my stomach, tend to grey out lol do you get that on this? I keep hearing about the drop going around the moon/planet
It's simply put, the greatest ride I've ever been on. It's smoother than silk. It's like riding on air.
I’m glad I didn’t eat before I rode this.
I know this comment is many months later….. but I FINALLY got to ride this!
We got the virtual queue AND purchased individual lightning – so we got to ride twice!
have to say, one of the best new attractions around! Hard to describe, so amazing!
this is video is a little old but after being able to ride it i thought i’d come back and give my two cents. i think this is the best ride in disney right now, with Splash gone nothing really stands a chance. the smoothness of the ride system was amazing unlike space mountain which has hurt my neck in the past. the one kind of annoying thing about it for me was that of the three times i rode this ride i got September every single time, just wish i could’ve gotten something a little newer but still an amazing attraction that i highly recommend.
