Try the Hammer Hunters, I'm very impressed with them. I use the 162gr hammer hunter in 6.8 western. The load I have worked up is going 3145fps and it punched right through both shoulders on my elk. Entrance wound was bullet diameter and exit wound was a little bigger than golf ball size. Lungs were a mess. It put him right down.
I use the Barnes TTSX and it drops them dead and is very accurate
The elk was quartering to much, difficult shot, the guide should HAVE ASKED TO WAIT FOR BROADSIDE. Over confidence on performance rifle system lead to think it's magic and lead to forget basics
I have a video on my page of a spike being shot through the heart and pass through with a 140g 7mm copper round and it didn't lose 1 drop of blood. It ran 80 yards in the snow and piled up. Every other big game animal I have taken with that round has dropped in its tracks from ranges of 100-600 yards.
I need a .22 prc for these Alabama squirrels šæļø
It looked like the kid was freezing. Buy him a coat and he'll make the first shot.
Congratulations! I have used both Barnes TSX and TTSX 300 wsm close range 100 yds Mule deer and farthest 580 on antelope…Dead Right There!! Pass thrus no bullet recovery
Hunted big and small cridders up here north of the boarder for many years, used Barnes copper, cup n core and bonded, boils down to impact velocities, so pick your range based on what bullet used and how big the animal is, all copper work great on all size animals from little coast BT to the largest moose and Grizzley but impact velocities are key, if the bullet is soft like cup n core they will explode and or mushroom quick at high fps, a sold copper Barnes or etip will work wonders at close range high fps but not so much at longer range.
If I can't achieve at least muzzle fps of 2900, I won't use solid copper, they will work at 2900 even down to 2500 but you limmit effect exspansion past 250 yards.
I have used 143 eldx successfully on deer and elk from a 270 win muzzle fps 3050, blow through large mule deer at 100 yards and with elk take out both lungs and 90 gr ball stuck under the hide oposit side.
I would use a Barnes 130gr in the 270 but the muzzle fps would be 3200.
In my experience the all coppers are not long range bullets, but starting out 2850-2900 and keep your shots under 250 and their devastating, for all around hunting with 400-450 being a max distance, I will used a good bonded bullet of the appropriate weight and BC.
It looks like you should get a selfie stick or something something so you don't have to remove your glove in that cold weather.
Ah no. I thought Americans donāt do the bakkie hunt thing. So disappointed now
Hi Mate…. Is this the new remote trigger gun? no finger inside the trigger guard when the shot goes off and recoil follows.
from South Africa
Can the tripod and mounts be used on a regular bolt rifle? Thanks for showing the misses as well. Great videos.
up and down angle is a place where a Fury 5000 AB will shine. Curious what you were using
Anybody that has hunted a lot and has seen a lot of deer and elk get shot knows for a fact that that first shot was a hit. You can hear the report and her body language after the shot says that it was 100% a hit and probably in the guts. Hate to see one get wounded and it most likely went to waste, but what do you do itās hunting and it happens.
Right through the shoulder blade if I was tracking the bullet correctly. Very nice shot at over 400 yds. However, I think this is a fake video because everyone knows you can't kill an elk unless you are shooting a 338 Lapua lol.
It wasn't a pass through and you didn't dig out the bullet? Wow.
Can you do a kimber Montana review
That was one of the coolest bullet traces ive seen on an animal. Congrats to your son!
Can you reshare specs on the rifle as well as the gunsmith used?
The cow looked hit to me. Don't be to hard on your son this is exactly my experience with Barnes X bullets. They don't expand and leave no blood trail at all so it's a visual search for sure. I've had a doe that I recovered 400yds from where she was shot no blood whatsoever. I shot the nicest buck I've ever seen in the woods we tracked it a 1/4 mile and found a few drops of blood never to be seen again. I'll never shoot another Barnes X bullet at game I wish to recover. If your gonna use them invest in a really good track dog.
A guide š not gunna lie list a bit of respect today: (
Which suppressor are you running here? Looking at a 7mm PRC and trying to find out if it is a good match for my Omega 36M
Awesome video! I've been using copper for 20 years now and love them. The 7 PRC just seems to hit that perfect sweet spot in the cartridge spectrum. Keep up the good work!
That's cool your son name is Ruger
Awesome shot Ruger with the new 7mmprc
Try the new Hornady CX bullet it's all copper
I hope everyone buys barnes and all the other copper bullets, then they will stop buying my favorites and I will be able to find them in stock againš
Try the hammer bullets hand loaded. 150gr bullet ish 77gr h4831sc as a starting load. I still like the 280 ai
check out the cayugas from pva have killed a fee critters with the 151s in a 7 saum they perform extremely well
What would you pick considering price and feature. Savage 110 ultralite or 2020 waypoint??
Been using Barnes copper since I found them many years ago, began with my Muzzle Loader in my TC Encore, and in all my riffles. I was convinced when doing my own butchering and found small lead fragments. Now when Iāve recovered these bullets Iāve been very impressed, quick kills and great uniformed expansion every time.
If Berger made them Iād shoot them for hunting, instead they are my range bullets. Out at distance Iām losing 6ā out at 800 yards using exact same powder and 168gr bullets.
BTW donāt expect pass through shots the internal damage is unbelievable š® but very ethical.
By the way if you want to get rid of that riffle Iād take it as long as it comes with dies to reload š¤
this cartridge reminds me of the 6.5 creedmoor when it came out ,, lots of bullshit stories,, its the same as the 7mm rem mag,,,,,it just has no belt,,,,,,, whats new and better about it ?
Road hunting isnāt hunting.
400 yard shots, 50% recovery? You are a shooter not a hunter.
I had a Barnes TSX in my .270 Win pass right through an antelope at 100 yards and never expanded. Same size hole going in and going out. Had to finish the poor animal with a neck shot at 50 yrds. That one experience has made me shy away from all copper bullets. So many similar stories of all copper bullets never expanding unless a bone is hit.
Congratulations. Great hunt and some good shooting….
finger wasnt even on the trigger when the gun went off lol
I want a 7 PRC to replace my well used 7mm Rem Mag, but it may be years before I can get a sufficient supply of brass and powder to load with. I an tired of the broken world we live in, you can't even vote the crooks out.
How to road hunt. Vol. I
Congratulations! That was great.
I so want a 7PRC!
Congratulations! That was great.
I so want a 7PRC!
Nice shot kid thatās a first of many
I have been using barns ttsx for a few years now. Love them, 2 cow elk 4 whitetail and one antelope. Love the performance but not a long range bullet. Keep speeds above 2k fps on impact and will not have an issue.
Can I ask the total cost on the rifle and scope combo??
Nice job Ruger, Dad too! What glass do you have on the new rig. Sorry haven't seen the video on the build
How close are the ballistics of your 7mm PRC & the 6.8 Western
I like using the 175gr browning ammo in my Hells Canyon
Nice rifle!! The ballistics on that 7 PRC are really great. Hope it becomes more popular than 6.5 Creedmoor
What a great shot! What camera were you using that you were able to see the trajectory of the bullet?
J'ai gagner quoi jim
