Me and @FishShopMatt put a huge amount of effort into this one and itโs my first proper co2 injected tank. Weโve had it planned for months! We went crazy on the planting and over stocked the number of betta fish. The idea of this is that it gives each fish places to hide if they want but there are too many Betta fish for them to get their own territories. Having territories is what creates aggression. Kind of the same thing with a Cichlid tank. Any aggression is dispersed between all of them. The tank is now a week old and Iโve seen very little aggression between any fish but will obviously keep monitoring as we go.

Is that the biggest tank they have? I only see the 72 gallon one.
Probably the best one yet in this channel. Love your collaborations with Matt!
Not really impressed that the spectacle of releasing them took priority over the health and stress of the fish, much less standing there talking over a netful of fish hanging in midair for like a minute.
Do you know what that light is?
… LED.
All the jokes and side comments are hilarious! It always looks like you truly enjoy what you do. And that is one of the reasons why I keep coming back to your vid. Great stuff, keep up the great work and thank you for great contents!
You should try the same experiment with a lot of diferent apistogramma
@MDFishTanks Can you tell me what is the brand of the gel you use to glue roots with rocks in this project?
What kind of fish is that orange or perhaps albino fish?
im literally obsessed with you + your aquariums its almost shameful how much I talk about you to my wife + family + friends phaha
Hey let us all know how you get on with the CO2. Probably need some decent Ferts as well. Its now a super charged tank!
Nice work youl.
That looks beautiful!
hadoken !!!
Md you need to do some sound proofing in your new studio the large room makes the video echo but other than that great video.
Is that aqua soil for substrate?
Nice scape. Hope you can reduce the echo in the new studio – very noticeable in this video as you were going back and forward with the old studio.
Where did you get that Beta Shirt?
I vote no male ๐
No way that's 60, right?
pourquoi on ne me rรฉpond pas?
It would probably be okay to put several males in. There has been a great study that delved into the genetics of our domesticated bettas that show that certain bloodlines (larger finned, red, etc) are more aggressive bc they were bred to be so. It depends on the bettas themselves, but it is definitely possible to multiple males in a well planted set up.
has this not got a filter
Love seeing you two talk tanks together. Wow, that's a lot of alliteration! Beautiful set-up. ๐
aquascape and fitness all rolled up in one ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Love this now I feel better about putting bettas in a tank this big always heard they could potentially drown but this was perfect!
Super cool build! Love it. Gina Hetlage
I really enjoyed your video guys! Excellent tank! So beautiful! I have had tanks for 47 years! Getting to the age I can't reach down into the big tanks as well, so I have small planted tanks, which I still can make beautiful as well! Love your sense of humors! ๐
The new studio looks great! Congrats and awesome tank build as always. Love seeing your growth
Is there anywhere stateside we can get that awesome substrate? I tried finding via Google and seems its a UK/EU only product. ๐
Hiho Hiho, wir sind vergnรผgt und froh… ๐บ๐ผ๐ธ
So when u have all 9f those plants do u need a filter or do u need to do water changes? Just asking because I have heard ppl say that there are ways to eliminate water changes
MD i wonder if you have encountered any diff. in feeding betta and tetra in same tank? i previously tried so but always find it diff. to make sure my betta get fed adequately before the neon tetras snap up all the food.
Lesson learned:
When I start a mew aquarium buy as much plants as I can afford, dont save on this.. this might have been the mistake some years ago
I love black mollies. I think of them as the black labs of the fish world…lol
If you betas start fighting, consider adding some dither fish. One thing to remember when doing any type of beta tank is that they love broad leaf plants throughout the water column. They like ot rest on the plant leaves.
right co2 packets and not running out – just do yourself a favour and get the real thing, there's a reason people use the cylinders they last much longer with this guy on a tank that big I give it 20 days
Love the tank ๐.Im always waiting for a new video, so glad it's all going well for you and excited about seeing the progress. You have come a long way from the beginning. (I was excited for the next video then ๐คฃ) do you have more information on the co2 you used or a link. Keep up the good work.
Epic, as usual. Awesome job, MD!
Looking great, I would stick in a few males. You probably will not get any babies though, they are wild for eating them. I have bred a few batches in buckets and even then you have to remove the male soon after he has finished his fatherly duties.
Tank looking great MD! Loving the new studio too.
Could you send me a list of any beginner plants you used? I have a 30 gallon tank.
Iโm so glad to see you use CO2. Low tech tanks are a dime a dozen.
I just watched this video, and while the tank is gorgeous (no doubt about that), I think the way it was done was very irresponsible. Dumping fish in, just like that, no quarantining the fish?? It's not about trusting a store (only partially, really). A fish could have eaten a camallanus-infected tubifex worm just yesterday, and won't show the symptoms until a month later. That's what QT-ing is for! Would be very surprising if the tank doesn't get an outbreak–multiple outbreaks even–at the very least, of ich (and shrimp is already in the tank which means that the most effective meds for ich would be out of question as those are not shrimp safe). And if one of these many bettas end up with let's say camallanus worms (which are common to bettas), and now infects everyone due to such irresponsible lack of quarantine (and of course, unless the tank has its own set of all maintenance tools, may also infect all other tanks in the room), this gorgeous tank could turn into a sad sight overnight. Irresponsible, in my opinion. Some of the females at the store had pale/ greyish spots on their skin. Could be from being picked on or…. could be from rubbing against stuff due to gill flukes… or could be the start of columnaris or fungus, or god knows what else. Yet, all these females, from different tanks are dumped together with zero quarantine! Way to set an example of responsible introduction of new fish. Very disappointing. Also, putting otos in the tank when you have just confirmed (by testing) ammonia in the water? Beautiful tank, but dislike that "fingers crossed and hope for the best" approach. Lots of folks who are new to the hobby may get a disastrously wrong message and end up being not so lucky… And if that's not bad enough, they go, "sure, why not?" to the idea of putting a male in with all the females… I think that was a dude that not too long ago had an outbreak of camallanus worms in a number of his tanks (and made a video about it). No wonder… Finally, just look at all the stress stripes on these poor females! And this guy appears to be utterly oblivious to the stress stripes, saying how great the bettas are doing. Another one has clamped fins… he zoomed in on her and thought she was having a good time exploring… with clamped fins, that is ๐คฆ…
