Me and @FishShopMatt put a huge amount of effort into this one and itโ€™s my first proper co2 injected tank. Weโ€™ve had it planned for months! We went crazy on the planting and over stocked the number of betta fish. The idea of this is that it gives each fish places to hide if they want but there are too many Betta fish for them to get their own territories. Having territories is what creates aggression. Kind of the same thing with a Cichlid tank. Any aggression is dispersed between all of them. The tank is now a week old and Iโ€™ve seen very little aggression between any fish but will obviously keep monitoring as we go.

  2. Not really impressed that the spectacle of releasing them took priority over the health and stress of the fish, much less standing there talking over a netful of fish hanging in midair for like a minute.

  3. All the jokes and side comments are hilarious! It always looks like you truly enjoy what you do. And that is one of the reasons why I keep coming back to your vid. Great stuff, keep up the great work and thank you for great contents!

  4. It would probably be okay to put several males in. There has been a great study that delved into the genetics of our domesticated bettas that show that certain bloodlines (larger finned, red, etc) are more aggressive bc they were bred to be so. It depends on the bettas themselves, but it is definitely possible to multiple males in a well planted set up.

  5. I really enjoyed your video guys! Excellent tank! So beautiful! I have had tanks for 47 years! Getting to the age I can't reach down into the big tanks as well, so I have small planted tanks, which I still can make beautiful as well! Love your sense of humors! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. MD i wonder if you have encountered any diff. in feeding betta and tetra in same tank? i previously tried so but always find it diff. to make sure my betta get fed adequately before the neon tetras snap up all the food.

  7. I love black mollies. I think of them as the black labs of the fish world…lol

If you betas start fighting, consider adding some dither fish. One thing to remember when doing any type of beta tank is that they love broad leaf plants throughout the water column. They like ot rest on the plant leaves.

  8. right co2 packets and not running out – just do yourself a favour and get the real thing, there's a reason people use the cylinders they last much longer with this guy on a tank that big I give it 20 days

  9. Love the tank ๐Ÿ’•.Im always waiting for a new video, so glad it's all going well for you and excited about seeing the progress. You have come a long way from the beginning. (I was excited for the next video then ๐Ÿคฃ) do you have more information on the co2 you used or a link. Keep up the good work.

  10. Looking great, I would stick in a few males. You probably will not get any babies though, they are wild for eating them. I have bred a few batches in buckets and even then you have to remove the male soon after he has finished his fatherly duties.
Tank looking great MD! Loving the new studio too.

  11. I just watched this video, and while the tank is gorgeous (no doubt about that), I think the way it was done was very irresponsible. Dumping fish in, just like that, no quarantining the fish?? It's not about trusting a store (only partially, really). A fish could have eaten a camallanus-infected tubifex worm just yesterday, and won't show the symptoms until a month later. That's what QT-ing is for! Would be very surprising if the tank doesn't get an outbreak–multiple outbreaks even–at the very least, of ich (and shrimp is already in the tank which means that the most effective meds for ich would be out of question as those are not shrimp safe). And if one of these many bettas end up with let's say camallanus worms (which are common to bettas), and now infects everyone due to such irresponsible lack of quarantine (and of course, unless the tank has its own set of all maintenance tools, may also infect all other tanks in the room), this gorgeous tank could turn into a sad sight overnight. Irresponsible, in my opinion. Some of the females at the store had pale/ greyish spots on their skin. Could be from being picked on or…. could be from rubbing against stuff due to gill flukes… or could be the start of columnaris or fungus, or god knows what else. Yet, all these females, from different tanks are dumped together with zero quarantine! Way to set an example of responsible introduction of new fish. Very disappointing. Also, putting otos in the tank when you have just confirmed (by testing) ammonia in the water? Beautiful tank, but dislike that "fingers crossed and hope for the best" approach. Lots of folks who are new to the hobby may get a disastrously wrong message and end up being not so lucky… And if that's not bad enough, they go, "sure, why not?" to the idea of putting a male in with all the females… I think that was a dude that not too long ago had an outbreak of camallanus worms in a number of his tanks (and made a video about it). No wonder… Finally, just look at all the stress stripes on these poor females! And this guy appears to be utterly oblivious to the stress stripes, saying how great the bettas are doing. Another one has clamped fins… he zoomed in on her and thought she was having a good time exploring… with clamped fins, that is ๐Ÿคฆ…
