6. The Empire of Ancient Rome – The Military Engineers Who Built a Civilization Without Limits

The Roman Empire was one of history’s most formidable empires. Its effect reached throughout Europe, Africa, and possibly Asia. However, how did Rome become such a powerful empire? What distinguished them from other ancient civilizations? In this book, we will examine some of the pivotal events that led to Rome’s final demise, including how they achieved and maintained power. A group of people known as the Latins founded villages that ultimately evolved into the city of Rome in the ninth century B.C. The Senate elected two kings to manage the city (basically a collection of strong men) (essentially a group of powerful men). The Romans enlarged their empire from Spain to Turkey as a result of their conquests. Their forces were so fierce that they could vanquish many adversaries simultaneously!

Many explanations have been claimed to explain the rise to prominence of the Roman Empire, which was the most powerful political entity in Western Europe.

Because it was placed in the middle of numerous vital trade routes, Rome was able to develop economically and socially. The Romans were farmers who placed effort above pleasure and gained immense riches through commerce and agriculture. After removing its kings in 509 B.C., Rome formed a republic with two consuls (a kind of official) who had equal authority. The consuls had control over military and foreign affairs in addition to executing religious ceremonies linked with combat, such as sacrifices before battle or upon returning triumphant from war. Finally, this confluence of conditions drove the Romans to conquer adjacent countries by force or fear of force until the local populace succumbed to their dominion.
