  1. I was rewatching this (for the dozenth time) and if you look behind aemma and the birthing bed when viserys first comes to her side you will see a painting behind her. It just is a neat Easter egg showing the link between the Targs and Dragons. Look next time you rewatch it.

  2. Great breakdown. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Otto in the future, because at this point he appears to be on a path of being one of the few "non-gray' characters. I loved the final Rhaenyra scene as she was named heir. Milly Alcock did such a great job of displaying the sense of foreboding for her future. What this first episode also did was help expand Martin's universe. It brings so much depth and interest to the Targaryens and the wider world from Westeros to Old Valyria. It opens up so much possibility in future storytelling beyond HOTD.

  3. “You smell of dragon” I don’t know why but the revelation of that statement and the fact that I myself had never even considered that reality made me almost instantly confident that the people making the show were at least taking the world seriously.

  4. I know its only been one episode but I think the show so far seems to understand what the people want! We don't actually want something too different from the original. What I want, at least is for season 8 of the original to be redeemed and a continuation of the pure glory and awesomeness that the earlier seasons were. I don't want to hear show creators saying they're splitting from the feel of GOT and doing there own thing. I loved the original up until season 8 and I think everyone wanted more of the good parts of GOT

  5. It has ocurred to me by naming Aegon's dream "a song of ice and fire" HOTD is basically rejecting the GOT ending, because there is no way that both Aegon and Sam came up with the exact same name for a dream/book.

  6. Its not good..I think you want it to be good..well cause its your business to foster interest..show was so empty in writing..this is desperation…your insincere to proclaim you've seen enough to be confident about anything.

  7. Honestly, I doubt it'll turn out bad, but it just feels bad watching this knowing what happens later in the timeline. I've never been abused by a person, but Game of Thrones is as close as I've come to abuse and betrayal.

  8. Anyone with a hate boner for this show usually only makes hate content to cash in a bunch of super chats from sour dummies 😂 some people are so miserable they’ll hate anything, even a show that (so far) is on par with GoT’s peak.

  10. I didn't like the tournament / childbirth juxtaposition as much. For me, if there are too much of these scenes laid over each other, it stops me from feeling all of them to their full extent. Whoever planned this tried to raise empathy through gruesomeness and reactions to it, but body horror invites a different kind of empathy. It's not the feeling "I could be you", more like "I hope I'll never be you, God, your fate is terrible and (sometimes, like in the tournament) so unnecessary. Regardless, I think it is a great show too. Especially because of the last point you made. I find myself empathising with a lot of characters, even though they are mostly morally (at least) gray characters, and I'm invested.

  11. There's simply not enough Northerners calling each other 'baastaad' for me so far, and where's all the different stories of different families on different continents scheming, plotting, then kicking off atst?
it's really one story in one place so far, concerning only a few people.
No witty mocking dialogue either yet, or them harping on about living legends like matey with his flaming sword 'ronning in tut breach at Pike.
Still a very good watchable series so far.

  12. Could you give more examples about how GRR Martin uses the in scene/ juxtaposition thing? Like how he starts and ends a chapter in a specific way? I know he usually ends the chapter on a cliffhanger, or if it's not it's more like he ends it like a TV show ends in episode (I think because he used to write for TV). Anyways, it would be really cool if you did a video breaking this down! Or breaking down other ways in which GRRM writes well, or just like… how to meaningfully in fiction in general.

I feel like he uses so many things to create meaning in his world — from color symbolism, animal symbolism, characters' names having in world symbolism as well as symbolism in our world (i.e. Cersei like the Greek goddess Circe), or characters looking one way but then being revealed to be another (like how Jaime looks to be the perfect knight, however, Brienne, who is a not so attractive and tall woman, fits this more morally). I know he also uses songs (Bear and the Maiden Fair) and history as well to convey meaning, especially when it comes to the Targaryens. But yeah! Have you thoughts on this? I'm a writer and would like my worlds to be interesting and meaningful and I was wondering if you had any opinions on this.

Also love your videos btw! Especially the one about 'the real Dany'. I always explain it to people because I think it makes so much sense. I don't know if I said it in my comment then but I realised recently it's because her 'lie' is that she's entitled to the throne and she gains this lie in the first book. And what she needs — and what you said she would do/ what makes more sense in the context of the story — is for her to realise that she's not entitled to the throne and that she needs to use her dragons to save Westeros as that's what being queen truly entails — protecting her people.

  13. Omggg I love Dr Who's hapsburg jaw – I cannot express just how much love and deep adoration I have for Daemon who is portrayed by a god among men Matt Smith❤ I cannot get over how sweet and tender Daemon gets with his teenage niece, his intimacy is so genuine. I cant believe how Im shipping them already lol. I thought a grown man implicitly grooming his underage niece would be really disgusting but lol Matt Smith!!!! ❤❤❤ I love love love how Daemon also put some law and order back into the streets. Sure he had to execute countless citizens with no proof or trial but eggs and omlettes ya know omggg Matt Smith I watched him in Dr Who omg!!! ❤My favorite tho is how smart and calculating Daemon is. He can lie and use his partner for his own designs and he doesn't feel any guilt or emotion or concern or ability to feel her emotions at all. Thats how a King should be!!! And for the record different people grieve differently. You might not party the night of your nephew and sister in laws death but you arent a super cool Targaryan prince omgggg Matt Smith's hapsburg jaw ❤❤
Who else is boycotting House of the Dragon because Rhaenyra gets old? – They are replacing the best actress who ever was for some geriatric actor who sounded very old and tired in the first episode. Omgg I love Milly Alcock and her hapsburg jaw too😍😍. I petition them to reshoot the entire first season with only Milly Alcock as Rhaenyra. She is my Rhaenyra and she makes me feel the same way season 1-3 Daenerys made me feel, before Dany was old and whiny. Also, I will now only watch shows and movies featuring Milly Alcock so producers take note! She is completely perfect in every way and I will accept nothing but the best from here on out. They will deserve the backlash they get when that Emma D’Arcy takes over. When will they learn? Oh btw why did Freefolk forget Dragons are supposed to be as smart as humans when Drogon burned the throne.

  14. The girl that plays Daemons love in episode two was terrible acting. Her accent was like Jamaican, French, Australian sounding mess. It threw me off from the episode for a bit after. Terrible white worm.
