To be clear, background checks have never stopped a determined criminal from doing harmed. But gun control proponents see to want you to think that universal background checks will be a magical cure. But did you know about the problems in the current system?
This video looks to see the growing problems with the NICS, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System that is run by the FBI.

The Background Check system is broken. Firearms don't "cause" crimes, number 1. Number 2 the firearms that are INVOLVED with crimes almost never come from lawful background checks. Most are stolen. Maybe I should do a video on where crime guns come from?
Is an expungement for domestic battery level 2 angry and insulting in Kansas good with feds to purchase ?
Thank you
Thank you for this information. I enjoy the different topics you have been presenting. Keep up the good work.
Yeah the call for "universal" background checks is just dumb. Anyone with a brain has been able to look at our govt and know they have been the problem.
IF it is the RIGHT of the People to Keep and Bear ARMS, then background checks are mostly useless… Then the only reason to check someones background is if they are mentally ill to a level that they can not reason unlawful harm. We may not like it but every citizen under the 2nd Amendment has the GOD given RIGHT to self defense. In this failing Constitutional Republic under current Nazi rule, the government can not have it both ways, of deciding when and what is the totality of what the founders said who and when the citizens RIGHTS shall be exercised. 2A says in plain text “RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE” and does not say if your under 21 or a former felon. The totality of the People is all citizens. The mentally ill are not capable to rational upholding of others RIGHTS to not be harmed and can be the only justifiable reasoning to withhold a citizens RIGHT to Keep and Bear ARMS.
Completely agree. Gun confiscation has risen tenfold since the bush or the Clinton administration I forget what it is so if gun confiscation at the state and federal levels have risen tenfold what do you think's going to happen once they have a federal gun registry that they can then go door-to-door and confiscate illegally because we all know from history every single government that has instilled a gun registry or registry of any kind has been gone on a confiscation or genocide of those registered people.
I am guessing it is my super common name, but I get delayed about 99% of the time. My local shop calls me '3 days' NOT my name as they already know it is going to be a delay. I have never been in trouble with the law at all.
I keep hearing the catchphrase "UNIVERSAL background checks"… Talked to my wife at dinner last night, and she asked me what the difference was k, and I really didn't have an answer… What exactly do they mean by "universal"?
I’m thinking the issue starts at the state level. They are required to report criminals and have been lax in doing so. Therefore the complete data is not available at the national level.
I WLD LIKE TO SEE THOSE VIDEO'S. IF YOU DONT BELONG HAVING A FIREARM THEN SO BE IT! I THINK THE FBI IS TOTALY OUTA WACK RIGHT NOW! LET THEM FIX THEIR PROBLEMS FIRST B4 THEY RUIN SOMEONES LIFE!!THEY ARE PURELY OVER AGREAGOUS!
Absolutely LOVE the stats and info! Eye opening!
Just wait until they hear about the "failed state loophole"
Background checks are broken.
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
So let's check: is this gun buyer a "person?" Yup! Human. Shall not be infringed. End of story.
Dogs, cats, cows, horses, donkeys, ferrets, dolphins? -nope, they are not a "person."
We also found out, after the Sutherland Springs shooting, that many people convicted of violent crimes by the military are not included in the NICS system.
As usual, great job on providing this information, I watch all of your videos and really appreciate the manner in which you deliver the information.
I would love to share this with some of my more liberal minded friends that I'm able to have an intelligent, relatively calm discussion with. I imagine that some would be interested in where they could find the statics that you quoted. Are they available to the average citizen?
YES I would love the video on if the ATF comes knocking.
With over 20k gun laws on the books across the country, it would seem that criminals are not deterred. The FBI/NICS incompetence should be embarrassing, but federal ineptitude is so common place that we seem numb to it.
And there is already a registry if you've purchased a firearm since 99, you, and your serial numbers are on that list.
And absolutely yes we would like to see how many law abiding citizens, with legally purchased, and owned firearms are engaged, with said firearms in felonious acts. I will go ahead and guess that this number is in the single digit percentile.
Yes knowing how states handle background checks would be great. Maybe the 20 that do it differently and how is that different than the other 30.
There is no gunshow loophole. Every business selling a gun or controlled device gets stuck running these background checks on innocent people because it hasn’t curbed violent crime yet so why not keep it going. Fact is I have bought from dealers at a gunshow and it involved form 4473. The only seller at a gunshow who can transfer in Free states without a form 4473 are individuals selling off part of their personal collection.
I don’t get it you never even addressed that it’s a lie “the gunshow loophole” doesn’t exist. Democrats are trying to make us all go pay for transfers each and every time a friend or family member borrows or returns our guns and so they call the individual right to transfer without form 4473 a “gunshow loophole” I would be more willing to subscribe if you spent more time dispelling lies and less time asking me to make you a paycheck
Libtards (DOJ/FBI/ATF) love this gun loop hole because they really hope each day that another gun crime will be committed on the hopes of passing anti 2A legislation. No laws will ever be passed unless there 'is a grave problem'. The libtards especially love school shootings as then can almost always pass some king of small incremental gun laws.
Great content, as always! I do wonder about those 6,000 oopsies that turned out to be no go's once the check was complete. How many of those will be legit no go's after SCOTUS makes clear the difference between a "virtuous" citizen and a "dangerous" citizen. How many of those no go's were due to a 30-yr old DUI (and I'm not excusing DUIs) committed by a stupid teenager, and now the person has been on the straight and narrow for 30 yrs, and is denied the ability to purchase a gun lawfully. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the majority of the 6000 are like this, making the system that much more worthless (and dangerous when the ATF comes a 'knockin' unexpectedly).
Let's face it. What kind of real (i.e., dangerous) criminal walks into a gun store and fills out paperwork to buy a gun legitimately? I think it is right around zero.
That said, and I know that this will get me a lot of hate, if you don't want drug sellers going into a gun store and buying out the inventory using ill-gotten gains, you do need this check. But, it would be better to fix it (and the laws around dangerousness versus virtuousness) so that people can legitimately exercise their 2A rights.
I'd love to see a video on "the ATF/State Police are at my door"
I say no. Not a topic I think is relevant. The liberty / freedom citizens, of which I am, tend to allow the other side control the linkage to unrelated topics / issues. They like to link crime and 2A. They do so because it benefits their propaganda story. However, crime and 2A have nothing to do with one another. There is NO part of 2A, neither directly nor implied, that’s linked to crime. So, a piece by you, researching where guns come from that criminals use in crime, only reinforces the anti-liberty linkage for their propaganda. NOTHING in our natural right to possess arms allows us to commit crime with misusing that arm. Same for the government restriction in 2A does not mean they can’t infringe because ‘we have right to commit crime by using an arm’. There is NO linkage between any natural right allowing crime to be perpetrated on another innocent person. To even speak of a natural individual right in the same sentence, defies logic. Who believes our natural right to staying alive, protecting life and defending against criminals who would attack or kill is or steal our property we’ve worked for decades for, says we can use that liberty & freedom to commit a crime against another innocent person? It doesn’t. There is no link between a good right and a bad action. But of course anti-liberty tyrants want to link them. Using their linkage, if we agree crime is bad then 2A and our natural right to preserve life is bad also. To get rid of crime, then of course we must get rid of individual liberty. No, please don’t do a piece crime guns vs legal guns.
Your channel is one of a few I follow that I have noticed recently YouTube is censoring/shadow banning your videos. What I keep noticing is that when I save some of your videos to my watch later playlist are gone or “hidden” when I actually go to watch them
Tom, I’d love to know more about seizure orders.
Back in the late 90's, I worked at a gun store in Maryland. We would send in the 4473's to Maryland State Police. Almost everyone we got back had "Not disqualified". The first time I saw it, I asked the gun shop owner, what the hell does that mean? Basically, MSP is somewhere between approving or not approving. MSP has or had 10 days to render a decision. So they came up with "Not Disqualified". So, I guess we can release the gun to the purchaser at that point. But…does that mean that sometime down the road that MSP may show up at your door because they finally realized the gun owner was not qualified. Never heard one way or the other.
Poor planning on your part does not necessitate an emergency on mine
So it's worse than the 3% because those are ones that did NOT instantly clear. Damned lying bastards.
This is the first time I've seen your channel. I've only watch two videos tonight and I am now a full-time, all, subscriber!! Fantastic information.
