427. S-series: Failed it; nailed it! Deconstructed Bloom To The Rescue!

#deconstructedbloom #fluidart #arttherapy

Hi all! I was so taken with the S pattern for composition during the live demo a couple of videos ago that I’m making it a series! This was going to be the first one; but I gotta tell you, the blowout is extremely difficult, and after 3 fails; I switched gears to make this a deconstructed bloom. I debated about leaving in or editing out the fails, but felt they were important to show what not to do LOL! Really in love this with one; and I promise I’ll show the dried results in the next video, which I have already filmed and the S-shape was a success! Video for that one will be up in a few days! Let me know what you think of this color combo–me and Sap Green are friends! : ))

HUGE shout out to my Patreons! Katherine, Lorrie, Barbara, Christine, Lori, Vicki; Barbara B., Carol, Anna, Jax, Jane, Allison, Angela, Carly, Dianne; Lori W., Sparkle, Simona, Peggy; Tricia, Angela D., Tamison, Elise, Reeny, Judy, Feathers, and Amy! THANK YOU so much!

Colors/Brands/Pouring Medium Recipe:

House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate:

PPG Multi-Pro in Eggshell.

Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe—mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:

Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); JoSonja Gloss Varnish 3:2 ratio paint to varnish. Mix well.

Brands/Colors mixed:

This Little Piggy (TLP) pigments in Tailfeather; Golden Sap Green Hue; Raw Sienna; and Titan Buff.

Golden, Atelier, and Da Vinci Fluid Acrylics– I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.

For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick then I’ll add a teaspoon of varnish/water to thin. (I make a bottle of “Jo-Wa” by adding 1/3 JoSonja Gloss Varnish and the rest water, and keep it in a squeeze bottle and use as my “water.”)

All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.

Cell Activator Color:

Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Gold Light, and VanDyke Brown. 3:1 ratio Floetrol to paint.

  1. The ta-da was at the perfect ti.e for me. Very nice I deed. I tho k with the s pattern disentangle leave enough room to blow the top layer paint down through the second layers of paint. enough to form the cells we like so much. I'm an amateur tho. I would like to see you try an H with an extended bar in the middle. I really like this painting as is.

  2. Love the way it turned out … the colors are Fabulous together.. and I’m not a big green fan.. but this is a darker one so it’s really pretty even alone
I’m not sure I’d even like the S shape blowout… seems like it’s pretty hard to get a decent balance with it
    I Knew you’d come thru tho… I Love your determination!! You’re Awesome
    Ty for sharing 💚💛🤍💙

  3. Can you please make a video showing how you make your pouring medium and how you add colors. I know you post all the information, but I still didn’t succeed following.

  4. I have a love relationship with green and brown together. It's also stunning adding burgandy or turquoise with it. My house is based on safari colors so i love that combo. This may be my favorite painting. (I say that everytime lol) Absolutely gorgeous Karen

  5. I liked the color combo a lot. I liked the orange for contrast …was it killing the CA I wonder? In the first "S" painting, the "S" was longer and shallower, not so much curve. I'm wondering if that skewer might have put touches of orange or other color in places where needed just before the spin. Or maybe a modified micro swipe with just a dot of color. This reminds me of butterfly wings.
