Let's Play New World – Part 23 – Warhammer / Hatchet – Gameplay Walkthrough

In this series we’ll play through New World, tackling the leveling campaign, side quests, dungeons, and crafting. We’ll be focusing on the Sword and Shield but will be trying out all the weapons over time. This will be a full playthrough, and I’ll be taking my time to explore, read all the lore objects we come across, do all the unique side quests, etc.

  1. Hey still loving the vids. Looks like you had some bad luck there though. If I may offer some advise on what I think is a problem that might help.

    1) water is great for passive healing, but it heals slowly and in small quantities over time. Health regen from foods goes away the moment you take damage. If you look at your fight with the boss gator you went in with 2/3 health after drinking water. Once you took one hit you were already fighting at a disadvantage. Get topped up first before jumping in.

    2) I have no clue what server you are on but mob respawn rates seem really fast compared to when I played those areas. But in those kind of areas you really can’t start a fight and pull the mobs back. Charge in and try to keep the fight on top of where the mob was. It limits the amount of other mobs you can draw in and won’t pull previously killed mobs since most have cone vision and will spawn with their backs towards you as you go deeper into areas. After the fights, grab the loot, eat your food to recover, then move forward out of the direct area before looking over loot to avoid the fight happening again. Tighter areas that’s tough to do so you might have to collect and look over after you leave.

    3) I am not sure of your attribute spread, but as a tank I run 1:1 strength and con. It seems like your damage is a little low for your level. I am sure some of that is gear, as those armor bonuses to your attributes really matter to your DPS especially early game. Keep that strength high to help clear out faster. The game “watermarks” your gear score based on the drops not the equipment you have on. So don’t feel like you have to put on a worse piece of armor just because it has a higher gear score.

    4) this one is preference but I would throw some more light or heavy attacks between abilities. I think you are hurting your dps by not taking advantage of stuns or staggers with a heavy hit or set of light attacks. Since the hammer abilities all give some kind of cc. Fight how you like but that one is just purely my opinion.

Take the above as you will. I don’t want you to change how you play if it makes you enjoy the game less. I just also don’t want you to get discouraged. But hey I like the personality and chill nature of these vids. Keep it up!
