  1. Well, finally back to the channel. A slightly busier start to the year than I anticipated – this was actually the intro section for my next upcoming vid, but I decided with a small tweak it was enough to stand on its own, and also to help my next vid start stronger. So here I am thinking about the Context of the 40K Lore, how it came to where we are, and whats coming up next. I've got a pretty hefty new vid on the way to follow this up soon.

  2. Can anyone recommend a book or 2 that can help me with the lore of the Imperium and xenos? I'm just into 40k with my girlfriends son and im really enjoying the lore so far. We paint and every Thurs and Sun night. I prefer more historical/info books to novel character driven books, but we both love to read. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Big thanks to Luetin09 and the whole 40k community. You've all been great to interact with. For the Emperor!

  3. I can't stand the Primaris – they feel like heresy (they could have just updated some squads and unit formations). My favorite faction is the Blood Angels, but after that its Necron (Once I finish my BA rebuild army this will be my next investment – hopefully with a 3D printer making my own custom models or components for a part [came across a necrogreivous on ETSY Necron + General Grevious from Star Wars), and then Tau – the other Imperial forces don't appeal to me and none of the other loyalists.

  4. Back in the late 90s I saw a picture of ephrael stern on comic or white dwarf at my local hobby store, when I later found out she was part of 40k (which I was vaguely aware of) I became infatuated with the idea of the sisters of battle. It wasn't till the promise of 8th edition and plastic sisters that I finally took the plunge, and it goes without saying that Ephreal Stern is an awesome character and icon in her faction

  5. I’m still missing three of the black books myself. The last one I bought cost me no less than $400… Not super proud of that 😅. In my defense, I was pretty late to the party when it came to Horus heresy.

  6. Comissar Sebastian Yarrick 1st edition was a my first mini and was gifted to me. Henceforth I have always been a Steel Legionaire by heart. Ave Imperator. Accipit laudem Sebastian Yarrick!

  7. It's crazy that 8th Edition was 6 years ago. I got my first models in 2018, some Primaris marines because I got caught up in the Space Marine game and the Uriel Ventris novels. Even crazier is I still have unpainted models from then….

  8. The character that brought me back to 40k was Kroeger in Angel Exterminatus. He was a rebel but he was still very much a Space Marine. Later I learned what became of him in Storm of Iron and it was disheartening. I hope we haven't seen the last of his damned soul.

  11. Frankly, I disagree that the background had to progress into M42 to keep it interesting. 40k never had a "story", it always had a wide background spanning an entire galaxy over literally thousands of years. Was it really necessary to introduce a moving story instead of implementing new features within the vast possibilities that were still available the way it had been done for decades? The problem with a progressing story is what we see in reality: Now GW has to come up with new events every other month to justify model releases and each of these events has to be galaxy-spanning to involve all factions while also happening more or less at the same time within the timeline. It's not like 40k is realistic in general, but all these galaxy-spanning apocalypses which are then forgotten a few months later to make room for the next big thing are not even plausible within the setting which for me damages the entire concept.

I think past campaings like Armageddon or Eye of Terror have proven that it was possible to develop a lot of new and engaging stories alongside new model releases with events that covered only one sector or even "only" one planet within the already vast frame of M31-M41. There is so much that can happen in such a time frame. Just look at examples like Gorkamorka or Krieg. It would still have been possible to explore the story of hundreds of worlds within thousands of years. I really don't understand why it is so important for so many people that new events must always be at the end of this (made up) time frame and must each have an impact on literally an entire galaxy to be considered worthwhile…

  12. I'm fairly new to 40k – so maybe that's why I have zero interest in Space Marines. The AdMech are what drew me in followed by Adepta Sororitas. As much as I dislike all religions IRL, I love religious fanatics in sci-fi 😀

  13. I’ve wanted to get the Horus Heresy box set of books, and I can’t find it anywhere. Can’t believe they don’t have that ready to go for fans, such a shame

  14. As someone who is still fairly new to the 40k universe (read only about 30 books or so), I completely agree with your point at 16:00. When I learned about the fall of Cadia and the return of Roboute Guilliman I was trying to figure out which novel(s) to read which cover this, only to find out later they are only in 'background books.'

  15. I’m brand new to the 40K universe. Just finished painting all my first minis from the recruit edition. I’m an completely taken by the Lore and youve done a great job putting to get your play lists. Is this new set of lore your talking about coming with a new set of minis also?

  16. I have been following 40k since 7th, with little more than the desire to get into the game without the means to do so. I remember gathering dark books coming out, but never got them as I was still getting started. Now that I'm deeper into the lore, I really hate that I cannot get the lore from those books.
