ive really only seen RF's play this fairly easily. Maybe death aura players and minion players would as well im imagining.
Some tips I discovered. You can sell the items and totems you can buy to other tribes, to more easily buy troops. Also any items or totems you have left in your inventory when you win a tournament are turned in to loot drops in the arena after the last match. In my instance I had 2 1 time sue totems that turned in to map level appropriate white arena plate gear. No idea if this can be used to get interesting loot drops
I wanted to add a quick option for how you are picking which competitor to fight. You mention to go with the highest total, but I suggest initially going with the highest total composed of the most coin types MORE than 500 in a stack. Because units cost 600+ and if you picked 500,500,500 you would not necessarily be able to buy a new unit that next round but 750,750 you could buy two. At least in initial rounds that is. Thx for the video!
One thing worth mentioning is that all enemies seem to respawn once you destroy a totem. Something you can strategize around in the case of a mine/trap build.
I thought this was going to be a half-baked MOBA mechanic. It's not half baked, though; it's massively overdone…
winning strategy tldr: have common sense
Very important point – you can SELL characters/items to any of the vendors for the same price, you don't have to sell them to the original vendor. Worst case, you can buy something that doesn't help, and sell it to a vendor that'd get you to enough currency with them to buy something useful.
Oh i did if fully wrong, i always picked the least favor since i assumed those were the easiest fights (rewards usually are all worthless)
i started as dd and the area lvl1 means i cant play the league mechanic ๐
defender slots arent "bad" per se, but they are very niche. there's a guy that builds defensive walls or one that heals nearby allied totems, they do REALLY well in the backline, so you can use the escort slolts for buffers and disablers. the attacker slots are perfect for the fire guy who blows himself up to just exert ongoing pressure on the enemy bulks and flankers are much stronger when used with agile or stealthy guys
Bit of an extension on your strategies – I have found that the best strategy is basically what you have found, but progressing even further – at least so far in my experience, after each full tournament you win, a few, 2-3 so far each time for me, of the minions you hired will decide to stick with you permanently. Ultimately there is no value of having a team larger than one player per spot so if you win enough tournaments you may find yourself with a completely full roster.
However, the vendors who sell the minions have hidden stock – they will only show items that you are within a reasonable range of being able to purchase. If you have an excess of the individual currency you will start to see stronger minions, at least initially the second tier is around 1500-1600 points.
It is likely going forward what you will start to want to do is once your team is full, sell the weaker minions replacing them with higher tier minions until your team is again filled with permanent tier 2 minions. I have not yet tried saving up enough of an individual currency to see if there is a 3rd tier of minion, that would likely require focused targetting of an invidual factions currency within 1 tournament.
I did find on one occasion an enemy team had a minion turtle that was much larger than normal, and upon spawning he would slowly walk to the middle of the defensive position and then stop there, at which time all that teams totems became completely invulnerable and could not be harmed until that giant turtle was killed. There did not seem to be a time limit on this, but this would make for an incredibly strong defensive minion. I have not been able to actually find this giant turtle for sale yet, but it is likely a tier 2 or even tier 3 minion.
tried the league mechanic but having trouble playing it due to the overwhelming amount of new dialogue. spent most of my play session today just listening to lore. amazing league 10/10
Did I summarise corectly?
Focus favour points to fill your board with Flankers > Escort > Attackers
Spend remaining favours to ugprade gear on Flankers and Escort
thanks
flankers prioritise totems.
Also you say one can tank the entire team easily, but you are playing RF, so that applies to tanky characters…
Hilarious that GGG almost has us playing rugby with teams of Maori.
Just wanna add that Toxic Rain covers a really large area, so you can easily stunlock enemy flankers from channelling on your respawn totems just by constantly spraying the area with toxic rain. Bonus if you have toxic rain totems as well
There are so many bugs after all the emergency patches.
If youre stunned after attacking a totem and hold flame dash, youll be at the other end of the arena on the first active frame.
Ive won three tournaments and I can wipe the entire first few rounds with zero effort. The last two are pure rng. Immoral enemies that cant be stopped from attacking totems arent fun.
Thanks! You really saved the league mechanic for me. Awesome video!!!
Dude, ty for the vid, i was playing without using favours LUL ๐
How do you start destroying enemy pillars?
so the take away is dont play dot builds couse you cant inerrupt, thx chris
Path of Exile: the only place where Trauma is a GOOD thing. lol
First battle. The value of my team is 750 points, while the value of the opponent's team is 3000+ points. Any opponent kills me with 1-2 hits. I don't understand why there are still no bombing reviews on Steam for the worst league in the game's history.
I love how of the two videos on this I've watched (yourself and Zizaran), both take the exact opposite approach in tactics xD
This is the new Delve!
I got a 5-link in early act 5 as a tournament reward. kinda massive, but did take over 1h to get through all the fights
My thing is, I get it's a bit more complicated than most newer seasonal's, but it's almost impossible to kill the other teams hero if you're trying this at a lower level. Legit took forever to even kill him ..just for him to respawn again.
Very nice summary. Thanks!
Incredibly valuable information for this league mechanic. Thank you for delivering it so succinctly. Instant sub from me.
My addition to this would be to kill Kahuturoa as soon as possible
He sucks to fight and you don't to go against him in the high level matches
I've won some of those super long rounds…Had one where I was down to 2 totems (mine and a single flanker) If they hadn't been a flanker, I'd have given up. As it stood, I defended against nearly a fully roster of enemy dudes the whole time my flanker was getting chip damage and eventually killing their totems. It works…I don't think it's worth the time spent at all, though.
Great video. To the point and really helps where I was struggling. Love your work!
