2004 Old School Format DESTROYS Me in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

We’re back with the 2004 OCG Format in Master Duel and I’m still trying to find my favorite deck to use. I decide to try out the Horus loaner and see if I like it or not

  1. I countered players who were running horus decks with penguin soldier, wall of illusion and DD monsters. Horus lockput is a strategy go had build a way to counter it without relying heavily on spells and traps.

  2. When I first played GOAT i just played either Chaos or P.A.C.M.A.N when i felt like turning off any and all brain activity.

However i really wish I could've played Megarock dragon OTK because it sounds pretty funny (was that GOAT or Reaper format? I cant remember)

  3. Like with yugioh in general, I don't play irl but do have a Goat deck in case I do decide to check out a local. Warrior Control centered around getting Marauding Captain and double Command Knight on the board. Having an equip or a D.D./Dark Scorpion on board instead or in addition to the Command Knight(s) adds another layer of annoyance.

  4. I had fun with discard deck, 3 monarchs, spirit reaper, don zaloog, and stuff to return to hand, with tribute support (the tricky, fiend sanctuary tokens)
BUT the most fun i had was spirit deck
Same tribute engine, spam dark dust spirit
Summon a normal spirit monster, swap it with creature seap or magic box, bam, get their monster, my spirit returns to hand
Hino Kagu Tsuchi and Yamato dragon were awesome as well, discarding whole enemy hand or replenishing mine

  5. For the event i used gadgets with gigantes and rock spirit (i think thats part of the name) and lots of destruction spells/traps. Being able to special summon and then normal and search gadgets puts you ahead of the game 🙂

  6. You really shoul've made your own decks for this.
I played so many decks for this event. Other than the Horus loaner, I played Exodia, Chaos, Umi, XYZ, Magnets, Mazera Archfiends, Masks, and even Huge Revolution (extremely hard to pull off).
    So many decks for cheap.

  7. These loaner decks are decent but i mever used them tbh, I built my own random deck loads of spells and skilled magician to summon DM pyramid turtle is GOATED giving acces to vampire lord too😂🙌

  8. For the event, i initially played a bit of Ryu Senshi and a bit of Dragon/Warrior but i went around a few duels trying to summon both Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon (wish i had Fusion Armarment.) and Sorcerer of Dark Magic.

Didnt have any UR gems so i couldn't go ham with graceful or card destruction or any other UR cards.

  9. Whenever I play GOAT (and in the event), I geavitate to Beastdown. I got nearly constructed Beastdown for a Progression thing I did with friends and ran it for almost two months straight for what would be the longest 1st place streak we had

  10. When playing in the old format, just remember, don't be greedy. Zombie is really crazy in this event. Any discard cost is basically free because you can summon it with Book of Life. The recycle is very strong, as old decks, they have a lot of floating effects to special summon from the deck or add something. They're pretty consistent because the searcher for good cards is a lot, knowing the format.
    .
The power of GOAT decks mostly is in their backrow. So, you cannot depended on your monsters only like in modern.

  11. Are you saying that in modern yugioh that if you did a bunch of stuff to summon something that your opponent isn't just going to solemn, counter with something on the field, hand counter, or blow it up after playing through half their deck?

  12. Now THESE are the cards from my day! I used to run a Horus deck that focused on getting out level 6. I did have level 8 in there but there was so much support for six stars that it was easy to get 1-2 turn kills.

  13. Hey that was me at 24:10 asterfeel!

I built a very rudimentary fire deck because I liked them as a kid, thank you for the compliments😅 but you are much better at the game, I just came back for this event I'm horrible at modern yugioh.

It was a good duel, I was almost ready to give up when you tribed fire types. Thankfully I top decked inpachi.

I was surprised you left my field spell intact both times, but it was actually a good call because I drew 2 of them in my opening hand.

I recognized your username near the end and was wondering if there'd be a video. Would love to duel the custom deck you ended up making!

    Cheers!

  14. You wouldn’t want to know my goat, format, deck.

    3-Armor
    3-Trap hole
    3-Bottomless trap
    3-Man eater bug
    3-Old, vindictive magician
    3-Spirit reaper
    3-marshmallon
    3-wave motion, canon
    3-Chain energy

Then I’d fill the rest out with whatever else makes sense.

  15. I played horus during the goat format and the loaner deck ain't it. Needs jinzo and at least 2 my body as a shield. Old monsters have no way of protecting themselves. So you need spells to do it

  16. I only recently started playing yugioh and I've only actually played Nightmare Troubadour on DS but currently my favorite deck is using Cyber Stein to get out Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and equipping it with Megamorph and Shooting Star Bow Ceal to swing for 8k unblockable damage as early as turn 2, rest of the deck is things like reload and mystic tomato to get to the cards I need
