What is The Callisto Protocol?
“In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto. Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter’s Dead Moon.”

I blame the Rap Music. The ticking of the hihat constantly triggers the brain with instant reactions with a feeling to ACT SUDDENLY. The thud and vibration of the Bass messes with the timing of the Heart and Lungs causing undo stress and Anxieties….
Oh cool i didn't know that you had a PS5 galm
Warden with the suspiciously on-topic lectures
I can feel your frustration galm.
8 minutes in and galm just being done was amazing.
This game looks like ass. I'm glad I can watch someone play it in my stead. XD
The fact that there are subtitles that aren’t voiced but are still in the game pisses me off more than it really should, like wtf. Are unfinished games just the norm now?
Not too sure what to think of the combat system. sometimes it has a distinct flare to it, other times it seems a bit awkward.
18:10 that dial up sound caught me so off guard that I had to laugh and I don't think I can take the game seriously anymore
Premise of the game sounds neat, but the actual application is already hit or miss, considering the dodge mechanic seems janky and unreliable despite it needing to be essential. Also, not much connecting me to the main character other than believing he's a workaholic or "by the books" for taking a job, some guilt over his co-pilot's death that is, honestly, discarded fairly quickly, and the rage and frustration of being put in a prison despite being innocent. Would have been nice to have some extra backstory explored first, and it could have been done with a day as a prisoner in the prison like Galm expected in part 1. Probably would have been great time to explore other characters or introduce them rather than just in the middle of chaos, and it would make me care about these characters a lot more, but otherwise everyone seems really flat or one dimensional. Elias seems alright, but that's about it. I'd also would love it more if the game actually had the beginning of the outbreak when chaos is starting rather than waking up in the middle of it.
Galm in the middle of a sentence… Dial-up!? and right back to what he was talking about
🙂
Oh man, was not expecting the 6 deaths later notice to pop up. Reactions to the gameplay are all over the place to some treating it like a fighting game, literally juggling enemies with combos, others being frustrated with the dodging, some shitting on people having a hard time with the git gud garbage, to people who find the gameplay totally serviceable. I do wish the game was a little more unique, I've been waiting for the Dead space remake over this and I can see all the similarities people are talking about, the enemies themselves sound a lot like necromorphs. Imagine if they were more unique and actually sounded somewhat human at first, reacting to your hits, pleading you to stop only to snarl and scream when they fight back. Or since the devs kept going on and on about the gore, have the enemies talk in garbled speech letting the player see their jaws falling off making their noises even more indistinguishable.
ive seen two other youtuber/streamers getting stuck and raging at the part 7 minutes in. the dodging in this game seems like hot garbage
Hey GaLm, been loving your new content.. not sure if it's a me issue but I've noticed that sometimes the video freezes but audio carries on.. I've seen this with this LP, GoWR, and RE Village DLC… not sure if it's some issue with software or what, just wanted to make you aware 🙂
This is exactly why i hate contextual dodging. What's the problem with good old, actually, physically dodging with a button press? You get jank like this where they say the timing is irrelevant, but makes it so certain animations can just bypass your dodge. Ive watched 2 other streamers and they all dislike the dodge system
The combat is definitely very awkward
