177″ Giant Buck At 10 Yards On The Ground, A One In A Million Hunting Season #hunting #bowhunting

On this week’s episode of Midwest Whitetail, we take a deep dive into one of the most epic single season stories ever captured in the whitetail woods. A roller coaster filled with the lowest of lows to the highest of highs, we couldn’t be more excited to share this one with you. Kaleb Greiner entered the 2023 hunting season with high hopes but he could have never predicted what followed next. Between stacking up a hitlist that included 3 bucks over 175″, an EHD outbreak that decimates the deer heard, and a face to face 10 yard bow shot with a 177″ giant, this is the story of Kaleb’s one in a million hunting season here in Iowa.

  1. Wow, no pass through from that close. That's crazy. Anyone can hunt from the ground or be in the stand, even someone who is 6'3 and 280 lbs, that statement was just a lack of knowledge and experience. That was a nice buck.

  2. What an amazing story with such highs and lows
Congratulations on a true monster I've also learned over the years there's no patch too small for a big boy to hide in So sad that you lost so many of your nice bucks and does To such a horrible disease 😢 Still you ended up having a great season and I'm sure you're thankful Merry Christmas and best wishes to you and your family

  3. That was an amazing once in a lifetime stalk and a great shot, and a great way to finish the bow season. But at the same time, it's got to be frustrating to know that with all the time, effort, hard work, cameras, scouting, getting permission, etc, you were never able to pattern any of these mature bucks and kill one on their natural patterns. Even the day you killed him, you just happened to get a pic of him in a fence row that you were not expecting. You got really lucky he was locked with a doe and in a spot to be stalked. It's got to make you question your approach to hunting these open terrain giants. I'm not saying you don't put in the effort, but maybe look into some different strategies.

  4. Incredible hunt sir! Congratulation’s! Time to start lookin for the next one. Question… sorry if it’s already been asked. What was it you used for the licking branches? Never seen application like that but it got my attention as I am looking to add licking branches to my arsenal.

  5. Well that certainly was a fine looking buck. Growing up in the N. Eastern part of the country maryland, 400 lb does were not uncommon 550 for a buck and you were well on your way to shoot trophy buck. HONESTLY THE ONLY reason the wht. tail got so large , piss poor wildlife managers, never allowing enough does to be taken. I stopped hunting in 2003 i was attacked by a huge black bear, unprovoked i had my back to the bear, a complete surprise attack, he was trying to kill me, a hunter heard me screaming and came running he shot the bear in the head with a shotgun , using slugs but not before it took both ears 6 fingers half of my lower lip part of my penis and one testical.

  6. Epic Epic Epic!! What a great tale and even though I dont hunt Whitetail as you do this is just the epitome of what bow hunting is like!!

Have to say I'm still confuseed as to why all those buck died so close to each other as in time wise and location

  7. Great episode! Some may argue this buck was killed by the use of cell cams, but its not like he put a cell out walked away and shot him. He worked his tail off getting permission, moving cameras, overcoming ehd dead deer, all a ton of work. Congratulations on the successful hunt! That was intense seeing that giant at 10 yards!
