It’s the end of 2023 and to celebrate I thought I’d run through some of the best lessons I’ve picked up over the last 12 months.

This year has had over 10,000 minutes of episodes produced so there was a lot to choose from but I ended up settling on 16 insights from some of my favourite conversations both inside and outside of the podcast.

Expect to learn what Toxic Compassion is, why Alex Hormozi needed to do damage control this spring, the reason you should just “be yourself”, why getting what you want isn’t actually a win, the reason you don’t want to be Elon Musk, why trajectory is more important than position, how a terrible job can be a huge blessing and much more…

  3. Drink away my friend😅😅😅. The absurdity that you would be criticized for drinking on air is a perfect example of everything wrong with today’s internet outcries. Here you are giving away golden insight, for free I might add……yet here people are not satisfied with the information, if applied could actually change the direction of your life, they want to point out “ drinking on air” 🤦🏼‍♂️

  4. Hey bro, you should check out Michael Singer. His teachings are gifting me so much self awareness and understanding. He talks about how we all live so trapped in our heads, focusing on the past or future so much that we never really live in the moment. He explains so beautifully and simply, if we are not okay inside, we can never be okay outside, no matter what we achieve. Then he gives wonderful teachings on how to find inner acceptance and peace. Explaining that from this epic, peaceful inner foundation we can achieve anything we choose, and also be okay if we don’t. He explains it much better than I can 😅 I think he might just gift you and all the people who watch you amazing insights and new perspectives. Would be epic if you got him on your show. Love your work brother, thank you for being and sharing you ❤

  5. Hey Chris, loving your talk today. I wanted to say that I was fortunate to have come to many of these conclusions some years back (like 30) and its been literally the best path I could have ever chosen. I think I sort of started it when I was hated at school by many of the "cool or popular kids". Most of them are long gone from my life.
I did want to comment on your FYI … I'm not sure how Y and I combine to U (as this is what they deserve to hear from you); but if anyone is commenting about you drinking, just how is that anything that deserves your reply?
Anyway, I only found your stuff in 2023 and I'll be keeping an eye on you and your guests.
Thanks and best wishes for 2024

PS: I think (perhaps inadvertently) you just hit upon the underlying aetiology of "Imposter Syndrome"

  7. There's an idea for the distinction between externally caused shame and externally caused – the external one is guilt, the second, shame.

There's a second idea, that both have 'regular' and 'toxic' versions. The regular is about our actions, the toxic version claims itself to be about our very nature.

So there's 4 states. Very useful model.

Healthy shame about our bad actions is the valuable one, but becomes impossible if we're drowning in 'I'm a shit person'.

One element that bums me out on your opening statement, is that humor is predominantly used to affect individual’s persona’s.

It accelerates the witness into a fade of being entertained by the counter personality and is a blur of the point often times.

It all can boil down to being too serious as to be focused on the true self, and being an executor of controlled perception in traction of limiting what other’s minds perceive.

Perhaps it’s true that we can only be funny when it is curved by extreme wisdom that only life allows at an older age.

  9. I learned the first one right before I met my husband. It’s funny cause the advice I had gotten from other women in my life was hide your crazy until they fall in love. It seems so dumb to follow that advice looking back. Cause you can’t keep up a persona 24/7 and if you want to find someone who loves you for all that you are you have to show them all.
