1200bhp Twin Turbo BMW E36: Street Legal Go Kart & Drift Machine | American Tuned ft. Rob Dahm

Believe it or not, this car started life as a bog-standard 1995 BMW 325. Owner Carl Balzer saved this once-dignified German sedan from the scrapyard, stripped it down to its most basic elements and then went to town creating a bonkers build.

These days it’s a street legal 1200bhp E36 go kart packing a massively turbocharged LS engine under its er, lack of bonnet. With all that power and a differential from an old M5, this thing is quite the drift machine.

Watch Top Gear’s Tuning Correspondent experience this wild build first hand and in typical Dahm fashion, push it beyond its limits…

  1. How the hell is that street legal? If you hit someone with that external cage they will be mush. I guess there must be basically zero safety requirements over there. Also, I don't believe for a second it handles well. There is a huge amount of top heavy weight up front.

  2. I think it looks disgusting, gaudy, unproportioned, fabricobbled together like Frankensteins mistake and I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I absolutely love it. What a cool vehicle!
