$100,000 ABANDONED Gulfstream GIII At Auction… Did I Bid Too Much?

Today we try to buy an abandoned Gulfstream GIII at auction for CHEAP. This private jet has been sitting for years on end. Can it be saved? This plane is worth millions in nice condition, and these are available for just a small fraction of that. Will these engines start up and run after many years? Enjoy this video as I explore this abandoned plane.

  2. How can it ever make more sense to abandon a perfectly fine (at the time) multi million dollar jet than to pay storage fees? How can such a valuable plane just be abandoned? I don’t get it…

  3. Yes, this is a, “walk away and don’t look back”, scenario. This has cartel written all over it. This was an inside job. You would have never won the bid.

  4. I helped to build the newest Gulfstream plant in South Carolina 10 years ago. I know that has absolutely nothing to do with this but your right. Those planes were high $$$

  5. Well, Prime Aircraft
& Aviation in Oklahoma is working on it. New registration expires 2/28/2030. I will become N893AV. They have also hidden it from flight aware.

  6. Aero engr: Can't be flown and can't be flown in U.S.. No millionaire is going to fix that plane. Damage to the right side of the wing (planes only have one wing, not two) is assumed to crack the spar. No NDT inspection would change that. But millions could be made renting it out as a party place, weddings, fantasy tours with la de da, etc.. The wing has to be removed and recycled. A fake wing of any imaginative color or design including chicken feathers and styrofoam, made to be easy to transport. It just can't sit anywhere unattended. Someone has to live in it or treat it like a business that needs constant protection. I'd transport it somewhere where it could be used on the ground. Maybe even converted tooo…..? Edit: I had the chance to buy a WWII submarine for $100k. Someone else had the kahones to buy it. Short time later, sold it to Hollywood for the movie Red October. Tge guy made $12M from the sale. When Hollywood found out how little the seller paid for it, they sent Harvey Keitel to 'clean up.' A funny aside is this: if say Howard Hughes was back and replaced every stitch of the motors and frame, it could be re-certified using its original certificate of flight worthiness. No structural parts testing would be required with all new same-as parts, but the FAA could require substantial full-scale structural and flight testing. Nobody would do that. If you want to finally win a bid wo someone bidding you up, consult an aero engr. We're free. We just like to brag.

  7. Great video. It’s been a huge of mine to make a video in a private jet. Your content is super interesting. I would love to maybe one day get the opportunity to make a video together. Keep them coming

  8. Know nothing about aviation but always suspected the costs were extreme for a private jet, great to put costs into perspective for an average salary 😂

  9. The reason it is sitting is probably because it doesn't have hush kits on the engines making it too loud. Also, it most likely isn't RVSM certified and that would cost as much as the jet costs. If it doesn't have RSVM , pass this one up.

  11. You're looking at over 3 million dollars to get that airworthy. Its not as simple as getting new parts. Landing gear and engines would have had to be sent away for overhaul. You'd be told to do a 96 month check. Taking 2-3 months by an MRO. This would have been an absolute money pit. And with the increase of charter company usage, and their brand new aircraft, nobody would charter it. You'd have lost money in every situation.

  12. You're no good at bidding bo. You gotta wait with the exact number of your bid and what you're willing to spend until the last 10 seconds. Don't give him any time to counter on you if you really want it
