We wish our Civic Si was just a little faster. What's on your wish list for your car? Let us know in the comments!
I want to like this car but it just doesn’t excite me. I had a 2009 Si and the fact that this car isn’t any faster is ridiculous. They should have 240hp in this thing by now. And the problem is the L15 is a weak motor and really can’t be reliably pushed much past stock without making windows in the block either, so simple bolt-ons and a tune isn’t gonna work for the long run either. So it’s basically keep it stock and a little bland but reliable or get a Type R. There really isn’t much other options, and that’s what sucks the most.
Civic hatchback is faster than SI?
Don’t like the opening comments😢
According to the info in this video the best version is the so often bad mouthed 9th gen with the NA 2.4L K-series. (especially at sea level locations). The fastest with none of the dreaded turbo lag.
$120 for an oil change for a tiny 1.5L?? My 5.0 cost me $56 for an oil change at Ford dealer. With 8.9qt of oil.
Solid take. Although I would argue that our expectations aren't the problem, especially when you look at all the competitors. The VW gti has 240hp, and sure the Si has always trailed behind the gti, but never by that much. Its disappointing to see the civic si hp number go from 197 (2006) to 200 (2022) in 16 years!
All Japanese cars (especially, Hondas and Toyotas) must be tested by 200 pound 6-footers…to find out how (un) comfortable it is for North American bodies..
10000mile is nothing.
Unless you're going for type R, the money is better spent on Elantra N at this point… I miss the high revving 8th Gen Si that I had. I was hoping that the new Si was better, and it is a better car. But is it a better Si? It really doesn't feel like it regardless of the lap times.
I'm sorry, 9 months and 10,000 miles isn't long term to me. This might be a good review for people who lease their vehicles and swap them every 2 years. I tend to keep mine for 10+ years. So this review is useless for me.
I really like my 10th gen Civic but if I wanted a “sporty” car, I’d go for an Elantra N.
Id rather buy a used ~2009 civic SI and spend $10,000 in top to bottom maintenance then buy one of these for $30,000 any day.
I agree with the recommendation for the fix for the Si. But add two more things to the fix list. Fix the REV hang that drive me crazy and make the interior of the rear the same color as the front.
Personally, I would prefer if they used some more lightweight materials/engineering in the Si and the Integra more than a power bump, including the option to nix the sunroof. That being said, I think it’s excellent as is.
Even the basic K20 engine that's in the normal Civic would give it a better score, but the real cherry would the the Turbo K20.
I wouldn't mind swapping out the turbo for a supercharger on this type of Civic, a roots, or twin screw type. Not everyone like superchargers, but I would think it would sound nice on this Si.
Doesn't need more power. Y'all just need to drive more safely. Plenty of power.
The "7.0-7.5 vs. 8.1" discussion muddles the question and causes confusion. For the type of car it is, the Si clearly earns a 7.0-7.5 and not an 8.1. Let's remain rational.

At the price point of around 28k it is a bargain. Want more power and excitement get the typer. Pointless and silly review
Love that color! Still not sure of the Accord/Audi hybrid look of the new Civic. I was just getting accustomed to the last generation's look.
Thanks Brian for another unbiased and honest car review.
Always knew this gen Civic Si was lame, and anyone buying it over the really capable Civic Sport HB manual is an idiot.
I have a cdn version and can say it is an excellent affordable fun car. Power is fine, handling is very good. The car is a great commuter and great on gas to boot. I got mine with a small discount so pricing for me was great. Not a believer that anyone should pay over MSRP. Walk away and the problem will go away.
