I had never shot anything other than our 12 gauge "snake gun" we kept on our property.
So, my first experience with a weapon was the M-16A1 — the military version of the AR-15, wit
The longest shots we were expected to hit on the shooting ranges was 300 yards, with the standard sights. We started out by zeroing our sights, and once that was done, we went to the ranges. Back sight was a little hole which had adjustment for lateral, and the front post sight in the front had the vertical adjustment. Once those two things were zeroed in, then it didn't change much.
For someone who had never shot a weapon in his life, I did OK — got an expert marksmanship medal right out of Basic Training. I earned two oak leaf clusters (supplemental awards) during the coarse of my military career. I own an AR-15 presently.
Awesome video
