SOOOO sad to see Eclipse on this list. Such a great war game. I even sold my Scythe when I got this.
Eclipse 2nd dawn is slowly climbing that BGG rating ladder… soo good 🙂
Love the honesty! Easiest solution with City of Kings is to give it to me. It has been on my wishlist ever since I found out about it. I love everything else that Frank has released, so I feel like I would love this one as well.
Too bad you won't get that copy of everdell because they'll say that it doesn't qualify for replacement, here's a 20 dollar coupon for our store that expires January 1st 2023. Fuck Starling Games
Where is more frosthaven scenarios , good sir… ?:(
Cloudspire – my 7 and 9 year old play 1v1 by themselves and dont have any problems playing it. Not a game you play 1-2 times a year. Yall have update pack? The copy you showed is 1st edition.
Everdell is so easy to enter it’s baffling in comparison, just play the base game – quick and simple. Eclipse is more of a euro than 4x, you won’t play it regardless – long and soulless. West should take over the show, now – much more adequate.
I think you’re wildly missing the point of backlash against ripping up Frosthaven.
Ripping a copy up while unboxing ‘just for the YouTubes’ is the height of privilege, and a dick move.
Nobody has a problem with you taking the copy to play with your kids.
Will definitively play Everdell once the new solo extension will be out.
You set up a time to play BSG and I'll be there.
Eclipse looks great, but I love ti4 so if I don’t want to take away from it. It sounds easier to get to the table. So it make TI obsolete. Tough…. Cause I kinda want it… 😝
Wes I'm there for you, if I win the copy of Frosthaven, you can destroy it on air.
Eclipse is a very different game from TI. Mostly shares a theme and trappings rather than gameplay.
Everdell and Eclipse 2nd Dawn are amazing games.
Would you have an interest in parting with your Pandemic game?
The City of Kings is a great game, but its also a Hybrid of two genre's. It does have adventure game parts but also has base building parts with worker management. People that don't adventure games and wanted a pure Euro don't like it for its adventure aspect, and People that like Adventure games don't like the building and worker management of it. However if you like both, then its really a fantastic game.
Sorry for your loss West, my best wishes to your family ❤️
You still gotta come down and play Trickerion and Eclipse.
Put that 10th Anniversary on a small floating shelf instead of breaking the shrink. Might be worth something someday.
West I need your KS TWoM. I love that game.
Terraforming Mars is on my top 10 favorite games list.
I'm saving to get everything Gloomhaven related. Which means that I may never play this game.
Well, that's not true. I got the PC Steam version. It just doesn't run correctly.
I want to play Galactica. But I don't even own the game, so…
Eclipse is much better than TI.
Great video. I feel better now knowing there are people crazy like me. 😂 I have a garage half full of unopened kickstarters.
"When I see [Rising Sun], the first thing I think to myself is I'm not playing Blood Rage"
And every time I think that, I finish the thought with "AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!"
Hey, sorry about your father. I hope that you're getting through.
Eclipse is just fabulous! So sad she doesn’t love 4X
LOL
please stop with the intro and get into the meat
Cloudspire!!? That’s one of the best games out there! I hope to table it 20+ times in 2023! You crazy lol
That soliloquy was very impressive, West!
Rising Sun first play wasn’t so great, we got a lot of rules wrong and focused heavily on combat and monsters.
Second play was a lot better and everyone got higher scores. Focusing on clever area control and using cards/monsters carefully to gain the most points.
The only part of the game I think grinds it to a halt is the part where you buy cards. In a 5 player game it drags the whole game down and just makes it so slow
Similar experience with city of kings. Bought it for the art, read a ton of reviews and resisted the mixed negative opinions. In the end the game boiled down to just a dry random unnecessarily punishing puzzle. Sold it after 6-7 plays. The only good is component quality and the art. Wait….what….Cloudspire? NO way that is an amazing game!!
I have my favourite games that I play more than others, but it's a bit odd to go "I want to play this game but I have no spare tiiiime!" but also go "I'll go to a friends house for 4 days of board games and play an old game 15 times"
Sorry for your loss, Wes.
Well, I will play Frosthaven (and will have no time to play any other game anymore…)
City Of kings kind of surprised me as well with what it actually is, but to be honest even if it is mostly a puzzle almost by the numbers game, it actually delivers quite well and is quite fun, definitely not the one you return back to back again, but once in a while yes it is good
I can't ever bring myself to destroy any game, legacy or not, so I will fully be able to play Frosthaven without destroying when I win it…..Eventually
If you don't like Terraforming Mars, definitely check out Ares Expedition. It's like a weird hybrid of TM and Race For The Galaxy, it's a lot faster, only has card play, and is an all in one, no expansions experience. Definitely get the collectors edition with plastic resource trays and double layer player cards.
Played City of Kings twice, did not enjoy it and was sad because it's so pretty.
I think there should be another aspect to this list. Where Shira tries to prove you both wrong. With some rules of course if she sets up and teaches one of you one of these games you have to sit and play it.
Oh my… I replayed many times the Hamlet at the end! It was performed so well… I applaud you!
So you are doing 6 major campaign games and 1 of them is not frosthaven?? What could possibly get more views than it
Agree with city of Kings, found it to be dreary and frustrating and sold on my kickstarter version at a massive loss . Glad to see it go. Hoping to try out Cloudsoire in 2023
I don't think there's any reason to play the board game version of This War of Mine.
Excellent. Just dropped $220 on Cloudspire stuff which arrived earlier today, so I hope I play about 100+ more hours of it than you this next year!
Keeping the games in shrink doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
If I'd kept my copy of Steamwatchers in shrink I wouldn't have discovered my copy was missing the morale cubes.
That was easy enough to fix, but imagine you open an out-of-print game from shrink in 5 years to find critical stuff is missing and you can no longer get said critical stuff because the publisher went bust.
No thanks 🙂
Frosthaven segment had me laughing. People are just too precious about their games.
I shouldn't throw stones tho, since I'm that way too XD
