Zonal Climate Anomalies 1880-2023

The graphic shows anomalies in zonal temperatures from 1880 to 2023. The graphic shows how the Arctic is warming far more quickly than other parts of the planet.

The GISS Surface Temperature Analysis (GISTEMP v4), a worldwide surface temperature change estimate, provides the basis for these temperatures. The latitude zones are 90N-64N, 64N-44N, 44N-24N, 24N-EQU, EQU-24S, 24S-44S, 44S-64S, 64S-90S. Anomalies are described in relation to the 1951–1980 base period.

  1. Global warming began its acceleration in the 1980s. We're burning more carbon, mostly from coal, fracking and animal agriculture, than natural cycles can sink, the excess accumulating is the atmosphere, resulting in impending global meltdown.
