  1. Nothing will ever be funnier than way back years ago reading this chapter and reading “You’re a man aren’t you. You’re trying to hide it but you reek of semen.” Is just such a crazy page it never ceases to make me laugh 😂 Also obligatory mention of the cut scene between Ichigo and Orihime. It’s a funny little scene where Chad asks Ichigo what he thinks of Orihimes outfit, embarrassment between the 2 ensues with Ichigo saying it’s a bit revealing without being able to look at her, she rambles about Urahara and how he tricked her into wearing it for Ichigo, Yoruichi comes in (sticking her hand between her boobs 😭) and starts berating Ichigo for not complimenting Orihime and taking her right then and there etc etc. understandable why they cut it but it’s a funny scene to read nonetheless

  2. this ep serves as a brake form the tension so theres alot of comedy scenes that are in the manga, which in an ordinary ep it would have been taken out to keep the tone of a war

  3. ya it kinda sucks when Kubo writes his one trans character he makes her abusive / predatory etc, like what that's just foul 😱

I mean he queer codes villains pretty consistently but he went above and beyond for her

  4. I see people brush aside zombie girl being a man but it was brought up for a reason it gives abit more understanding of the character how he probably uses the fact that he looks like a young girl to his advantage over others, which is probably why he grin after they called him out on it.

  5. Earlier in the episode she said that Quincy need to be dead in order to be turned into a zombie but shinigami just need blood splashed on them to turn into a zombie so it’s possible Toshiro isn’t dead.

  6. Giselle's moment is totally different type of villain in this series. In the Jp version and manga , Yumichika said that she stinks of semen. That's why he closed his nose . After that she told them that she saw bambi face and killed her , it made her wet ( in manga yumichika added : wet? you mean hard right?). Therefore , i guess she not just sadist but also necrophile. But all of things might be too heavy to be shown in shonen genre series

  7. [Tidbits & Clarifications]

    – Comedic scenes revolving around Orihime's attire were removed. It expresses that Urahara made the outfit and Orihime wore it to impress Ichigo, but naturally Ichigo wasn't properly aware.

    – The scene with Yumichika covering his nose is purposely re-recorded for Western audiences. In the Manga and in the Japanese episode Yumichika is actually saying to Giselle:

" You're a man, aren't you. You may think you have concealed it but frankly, you stink of semen"

(This was likely changed for Western audiences because of political issues)

    – Many forget that the Shiba family was or rather are by blood one of the 5 Major Noble Families. The fact that they have a canon capable of reaching the Soul Palace says a lot and brings up some interesting questions.

(Plus Imagine how strong Kukaku fire must be if she has enough energy to set off the canon)

    – We've learned some rules for Giselle's Zombification.

To Zombify a Quincy they must be fully dead, whereas shinigami simply needs to come into contact with her blood but clearly, there is more to it otherwise Yhwach would have taken Giselle with her to turn someone like Aizen or Yamamotot into a Zombie.
(Zombification doesn't necessarily equal or mean death, rather it's the phrase used for falling under Giselle's ability)

    – Many people miss it but Giselle and her awful treatment towards Bambi is supposed to mimic how Mayuri was first introduced. He used Nemu as a tool and was wickedly violent and sadistic.

By using Giselle/Bambietta as a parallel it shows us in part how Mayuri has grown since then.

(Though Mayuri still isn't that good of a person but certainly better)

    – Some people Claim that Mayuri having the Zombies is plot armor but as the episode showed with the flashback he did in fact raid Szyelapporo's Lab after he defeated him (The Pink-Haired Scientist Espada) in the Hueo Mundo arc and we know that Szyel was collecting the defeated Arrancar. This just shows that Kubo had this concept planned way in advance.

    – Another thing about Giselle's zombification is that it would seem that the Zombies aren't as strong as they once were. Bambi was clearly a much greater threat when she was alive and in control, and though the revived Arrancar have likely gotten stronger it wouldn't be enough to defeat above Captain Class threats so easily.

    – Though it was only episodes ago many seem to have forgotten that a mysterious figure appeared near Toshiro after he fell unconscious. We see now that it was Giselle.

Awesome theory about Yhwach possible goal of removing the borders between separate places.
We've always been told that if the balance is broken the worlds will collide and collapse, but that's always been told from the Shinigami's point of view and we know that there are many dark secrets and half-truths when it comes to them.
So maybe as you theorized, Yhwach may have a way to create a singular place devoid of hierarchy and maybe what we knew was a lie.

  10. Man I was feasting so much more Mayuri greatness just flexing by his presence and lines alone then Giselle best girl getting glow with Bambi plus Queen Yoruichi makes her arrival. Plus this episode was so damn hilarious it's crazy from Charlotte calling out Yumichika or fugly lol to Renji blushing over Bazz B complimenting his eyebrows 😂

  13. Meanwhile in an alternate universe

Bambietta Basterbine pointed toward the four and said, "You all deserve to die. Especially by my hand. You have caused an unbearable amount of physical and psychological torture. Four years. Four years of this moment building up."

She then lowered her eyes, "But you're right. I have changed. That doesn't mean anything, though. For you still cause me pain. And you should die."

    She then dropped her sword.

"But I'm not going to do it."

    Silence

Bambietta Basterbine. The strongest female Sternritter in the Wandenreich. Tempered, powerful, insecure, and arrogant… was gone.

This person is different. Who is she?

    "Giselle. Meninas. Liltotto. Candice."

    They listened, but remained quiet.

She looked over her should and said, "I will never forget, but I will forgive you."

And then… she began to walk away. She walked past Ichigo, who was just as stunned and in disbelief as the four other Quincy. All those years of talking about how she planned to execute her revenge. All those years of suffering. Ichigo was there for all of them. And here she is. Just walking past it all. And what of the other female Quincy? Well, that would have to be up to them. They will walk their own paths just as Bambietta has. Whether or not they will become better people is all on them. Bambietta came here in order to seek revenge, to seek her pride and strength again. But that didn't happen.

She forgives them not because they deserve it, but because she deserves peace.

  14. Weird censorship…(Source: Bleach Wiki):

«The subtitled streaming versions of this episode posted on Hulu and Disney+ alter Yumichika Ayasegawa's claim that Giselle Gewelle smells like semen to him simply asserting that her being male is obvious.»

  15. They are giving Orihime the "Hinata Shippuden Waifu Transformation" Treatment. Since the Orihime/Ichigo "relationship" was never that deep, complex or even substantial (especially when compared with the ones he shares with other female characters like Rukia or even Nel), they now have to make her "attractiveness" impossible to ignore (even by the typical aloof shonen protagonist…), so that Ichigo finally notices her and looks at her "as a woman"(cliché) for the first time and gives her the time of day.
Every classic shonen protagonist "needs"/MUST HAVE a gift-wrapped, customized fan service waifu(cliché) to compensate him for his heroic efforts in saving the World… (The manga makes it even more obvious that it's all for Ichigo. I mean, there's nothing clearly functional about that outfit. It's not even a cool design, especially when compared to what we've seen from Rukia, Suì-Fēng, Yoruichi, Nel, Tier Harribel, various female Arrancars, some of the female Quincy[s] throughout the years or recently…)
It's pretty lame writing, quite cliché and one of the few points of the new series where I really feel they dropped the ball and didn't bother to do more.

Yoruichi's (re)entrance also felt pretty rushed in the anime. They cut a bunch of manga material there, probably in order to keep the tension and the dramatic tone but really weren't that inventive when coming up with solutions.

Still a lot of much-wanted comebacks, entertaining content and dialogue in this episode, tho.
