I have to listen to a good clear version of BFE/WOD (most of the time BFE at Red Rocks because it's the most clear I've found). There's something about Jake playing the solo…feeling it deep in his soul and making us feel it too…that gives me what I need to continue with life. Those aren't really even the words to describe it. There's a reason the solo is ranked #1…it may not be all about his technique or abilities…it's the way it makes you feel.
Idk about anyone else but I feel like the solo has changed in the past year…like he has added more technique and difficulty to it (idk the right musical terms). Don't get me wrong, I still absolutely LOVE LOVE it…the changes make it sound different and it has changed something. Does anyone understand what I'm rambling about? (See my other comment to read I'm not complaining AT just pointing something out).
To me this one is just way better as a studio song, yeah they jam it out live, but its missing all of the acoustic tonalities and the intricate vocal work. and it defenitley lacked enthusiasm from the crowd in this one.
When you reacted to Red Rock's they did Black Flag Explosion which later became Weight of Dreams. That may by why it seems familiar to you. Love this song. Jake actually won an award for Best Guitar Solo of the 21st century. Can't remember which guitar magazine it was from. As always, love your reaction.
I love the images of the crowds reactions. Especially the background shots where people walking past are stopped in their tracks by the music. What a compliment to the artists.
I love this song kicks ass. While it’s not in my top favorites or anything, it’s still one of the best on the album. I agree with you on Jake, first time I watched a live that’s all I could think about was how that dudes back doesn’t hurt after every show. I’m pretty sure mine would if I tried that. 😂
I was hoping you would watch this one. I feel like Danny going bonkers in the back there is just as important as the solo. This will be my favorite song of theirs for a long time, I'm emotionally attached to that solo. Watching him lose himself during his solos is a beautiful thing. There's not been a guitarist in a very long time that I can say has the passion that Jakey has.
Check out my playlist for more live videos and some of their old unreleased material. You've heard some of it, there are others I think you'll really like as well! You also NEED to see the Master Class videos. Reacting to all four would make a good video for you. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6SLngdcahLpTrBAO6TpF_leMI3nYfWNJ
This is by far my fave track of theirs. It kicks ass!! Especially live!
I’m excited for you to see them live! It’s a totally different experience
Just like teaching kids to find the Main Idea!!! Right up front! – Literacy teacher, I am! lol!
An epic track, no doubt. Who else has 14 minute songs these days? Not very common, nor are extended guitar or drum solos.
I call it "The Matrix" pose! Josh almost always says "Smoke 'em if you got' em as a joke before a lot of performances😃

Some of the fans you see “smoking” are actually enjoying Mother Nature…😄
I’m going to Sep 6th show too. Maybe I’ll see you there. Love the reactions. Keep ‘em coming.
