Zelensky heads to US in first trip outside Ukraine since beginning of war

President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are planning to meet at the White House on Wednesday, according to two sources familiar with the planning, in a Washington visit that is tentatively scheduled to include an address to a joint session of Congress.
Zelensky is already on his way to Washington, two separate sources said, for a visit that marks his first trip outside of Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in February of this year.
The visit to the White House, which hasn’t been finalized and has remained tightly held due to security concerns, will include a meeting with Biden and top administration officials and is planned to coincide with the administration’s intent to send the country a new defense assistance package. Biden will announce an additional $1.8 billion in security assistance to Ukraine during the expected visit, a significant boost in aid headlined by the Patriot missile systems within the package, a US official told CNN. #ukraine #PhilMattingly #CNN

  1. Zelensky's visit and positive reaction will aid Ukrainian's military and population. They now know the U.S. is behind Ukrain. I think this visit will revitalize the will to continue fighting for their liberty from Russia.

  2. Zelensky is an overwhelmingly class act of a man. Coming to the US personally to essentially say “thank you” was not necessary, but it tells you something about him, the people of Ukraine, and the appreciation they have for all of the financial, material, and logistical support that the US has given in a war that has been criticized as NATO’s war against Russia that is using non NATO Ukraine and it’s population to avoid casualties of its own.
I can’t imagine what would have happened if Putin decided to invade Ukraine while the last president was in office. Things might might have been very different r

  4. The media , ie CNN is spinning the narrative that Ukraine is winning the war , reminds me of the Falkland’s war, Argentina was winning until of a sudden it wasn’t. There is no way in hell Russia will loose, unfortunately the American taxpayers are the real losers. What a total cluster fk for the American taxpayer
